Excellent, simple, straightforward, yet poetic panorama of value, changing with perspective.
I must admit that I stumbled on first read, seeing pounds OF diamonds, rather than pounds FOR diamonds... since we don't think in pounds as money.
Is there another denomination you can use in your vernacular to avoid that mistake in ours?
deLighted by your paradox, Daniel
P.S. and here's a riddle that I'm sure you'll easily solve, just as a bonus for my brief critique:
What would you call two PhD's lecturing on "Light as Particles" and "Light as Waves" at the waterfront, one speaking from a quay and the other from the adjacent pier?
So as not to have further comment on this riddle to take away from this thread, I'll offer the 'solution':
a pair o' doc's on a pair o' docks on a paradox

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for visiting and critting.
>D>Excellent, simple, straightforward, yet poetic panorama of value, changing with perspective.
Thank you very much.
>D>I must admit that I stumbled on first read, seeing pounds OF diamonds, rather than pounds FOR diamonds... since we don't think in pounds as money. Is there another denomination you can use in your vernacular to avoid that mistake in ours?
Sorry. I take your point and I'll think on't. I wouldn't want to use a different currency since it would not make the point to me - but I shall give thought to a different term for money - though such would mean re-considering a quantitiy (i.e. 99p). By the way, I think pounds sterling did come from pounds weight origianlly. Being in Antwerp means their local currency is "Euros" but I couldn't use that as a matter of principle.
For anyone who does not know currencies well:
UK 100p = £1 (One hundred pence = One pound Sterling).
Much of the EU now uses the Euro: €1 = 100 Cents.

Thanks, Daniel.

Nope, you have me there.

That would be the C-Side Cubed Paradox?
Cheers, Daniel,

Hi Daniel 2,
I've tried a few things - including "Euros," as it is Antwerp (and I can suggest that Euros are worthless, too!). But then I would need to use "99 cents" - else further confusing - and I want "local" in pence. So, sorry, point taken but pounds will have to remain.
Cheers, J.

Hi Grace,
Thanks for popping in.
Very pleased you enjoyed it.
As for the lessons - no need; there for the hard-core. But if perchance you do, let me know.
Cheers, J.

Hi James
many congratulations on getting a wizard for this piece. It led on to an interesting discussion as well as an informative lesson in economics.

Hi Nina, thank you.
And my deep apologies about the consequences... I've never trusted Supply & Demand Curves - shifty types!

Hi Nina :)
Hi Fran,
Thank you very much.
But we've not yet explored the differences in demand based on cosmetic and hygene effects of toothpaste... nor the paradox of thrift... nor demand-pull inflation...
So many joys!
See you.
J.
