love
kept safe
may not be
a thing worthy
of keeping at all
since it's to be given
out of concern for others
rather than hoarded for yourself;
it is an act of satisfying

ings
change verbs;
which form nouns
and adjectives
but are mostly used
at the end of some words,
hardly ever at the start
which makes it very difficult
to use when I begin a nonet

When power leads man toward arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the areas of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of his existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy

net
results
of starting
out your nonets
with the ends of words
are more acts of revenge
plotting to end your next piece
with something very difficult
to copy or remanufacture

ure:
suffix
to form nouns
from what were verbs
showing conditions,
results, facts of or acts;
much like “ing” makes gerunds
when added to the ends of words
“ure” trying to make so difficult.

cult
writers
follow us -
of course proving
that we're not cultists;
we're all alone down here
slogging on in the deep slough
of our own endless silliness
saying nothing in particular

lar
and dan
trading quips
that no one reads
or would understand
unless it was explained
that we follow all the rules
when writing various set forms
but break quite a few when we want to

two
writers
scribble on
to fill their time
with a few chuckles
that few will ever share
but they go blabbering out
their silly nonsense, following
the rules of various forms, badly

lye
and bleach
are caustic
and poisonous
to environments
and to most living things
but necessary evils
to make all things pretty and white
which seems to symbolize something clean

clean
language
does not mean
all's such inside;
letters can be washed
and glued on white paper
by persons with filthy minds;
what is my point in saying this?
nothing but to complete this nonet

nets
may catch
lots of fish
when they’re deployed
after much planning
in deep enough waters
but if the bait fish aren’t there
which the larger fish feed upon
your dinner plans have a lot of holes

wholes
are made
from pieces
unconsciously
gathered together
often with a purpose
yet other times for nothing
but filling in the empty space -
like we to a lot at this Crossing

Double Acrostic - Satisfied God and Man

sing
and go
to soul’s grand
intense aura
situated in
faith and love that you build
in your heart to quell the storm;
express an angel’s persona
dispersing praise through life with a hymn

hymns
forming
acrostics
are beyond me
so I'll be mundane
if that won't put you off;
lately I've barely had time
to write, so I've not responded
to many of our usual forms

forms
are used
for practice
to improve skills
not competitions
so I am not bothered
but am inspired by answers,
however mundane, in replies
which have kept me going all this time.

time
seems to
fly these days
watching grandkids
and working with son
helping to put our house
back together piece by piece;
yesterday we worked on ceiling
above the stairs; it was over my head

head
and heart
in your house
along with sweat
and hammered fingers
are parts of a puzzle
but the most satisfying
is the laughter of grandchildren
and family that make it a home

home
in on
completion
of the old house
in the next few months
even though we have lots
to do before we've finished;
today should tie up the dry-wall
and our first coat of the wet taping

ping’s
the sound
hammers make
when hitting nails
unless they are yours
then the sounds that are made
consist of fire and brimstone
which will curl your first coat of paint
unless you’re proficient in Latin.

snippers
cut on through
the sheet metal
making it simple
to shape it as you like;
when you want particular
shapes you can follow a pattern
like cutting with a pair of scissors

oars
used in
unison
will steer your boat
in a nice straight line
but if you have just one
you switch side to side and veer
or sit in back of the boat and
use a rudder to go with the flow
