At Cleo's request, we'll start a Limerick TRAIN thread.
Three rules:
1 Work at making it a real limerick. [First post is somewhat instructive on that matter.] 2 Avoid the traditional ribald or worse, if you would, please 3 Link with at least two words [ or sounds ] from final line of previous post.
All aboard...
3-3-2-2-3
Hey, a lim'rick's a lim'rick! Let's face it! It's got three feet, then three feet; then space it with a couplet of two. (Splash’s eyes roll to blue?) Then it's one more with three feet. Just pace it.
Now, I'm not makin' fun o’ you, Jimmy! We enjoy all yer gaffs; ye're no dimmy! Lor's a great writer too! (Would that I could be you!) But a lim'rick's a lim'rick! It's whimmy.
So let's 3-3-2-2-3 together! See, a lim'rick – no matter the weather – goes with ‘3’ feet, then ‘3’, then with two ‘2’s. You see? Then you finish with one more ‘3’ measure.
Once we get it, our joy will continue; it won't stop . . . but we'll jig! Yes, it's in you! So let's try it once more! Please, this beat, don't ignore, and our fun will go on. (Not agin you!)

Note Link (minimum two words) ~ Here I chose four: fun will go on
First Link
Cleo’s fun will go on if you link it with a couple of words. Please don’t think it will be all that hard. Come on! You’re a bard! Grab a couple o’ words… Just don’t kink it!

A couple 'o words don't seem too hard it's the pace of the train - and its shard The beat can be sharp or smooth like a harp but whatever ya do, just stand guard!

Just stand guard with the brakeman, Your Grace; if you do, we’ll chug on all apace. He’ll kick ‘too’ from line one, and you’ve well begun… then I’ll wipe off the smirk on my face.

The smirk on my face is not right MY count'nance is sunny and bright so take it away 'cuz I wanna play with word-games all day n' all night!

I meant no offence, Mister Dan when I said 'a five minute man' Your poetry's swell and penned very well. Composing so quickly is grand.

Charlie took a young lady to dine at a place he considered quite fine She couldn't be pleased, complaints never eased, so he offered some cheese with her whine.

She served up sour whine with her sleaze ... would spread all the gossip she'd please; if I had let her stay she'd have soon had the sway, but I chucked her. She was a disease.
