This is a random challenge that was inspired from comments made on one of Alan's threads via Merlin. The challenge is to write a poem (at least 4 stanzas) or short story about love without using the following words: Love Heart Soul Kindred Spirit Kiss Passion Please post your responses as a REPLY to this thread.Good luck! ~~@Jackie

For those who claim this is "a bit short", does splitting the verses into couplets bring it within the rules ? LOL

OSCULATORY CACOETHES
Four beats to the bar, that’s who you are
a woman who cares to the very essence of her being
So alike, you and I, in the dedication one to the other
specially when indulging in osculatory cacoethes

SHINING STAR
This tale may seem like a cliché, but I remember it like it was yesterday. I chanced on a tantalizing princess emblazoned with an ethereal finesse.
She had the prettiest of smiles, and beguiling, radiant sienna eyes; coupled with an exhilarating aura, she was my own enchanting aurora.
Rose colored lips glistened in sunlight, casting a sparkle of tempting delight. Buttery soft skin and capuccino hair accented a sure, sophisticated flair.
The captivating scent of her presence was reminiscent of a lavender essence. Her soft-spoken voice was like a lullaby echoing in my mind like a lyrical melody.
This delicate, beaming alluring cutie cast a bright rainbow of poetic beauty. Jailed by timidity, I adored her from afar, dreaming she’d become my shining star.

An Ode to My Wife
Gold tressed, as ripened wheat o'er alabaster brow, strawberry smiles do greet mine eyes and bless, somehow.
Thy beauty made me whole when Fate saw to reward such treasure as my dole. 'T was thus inspired the Bard.
No sonnet, writ by hand, or song that man has heard compare to thee. Fire fanned thoughts leap, though sadness gird.
Within your aura, blush the flowers. Strive for naught song birds. In reverence, hush! By envy all are caught
in silken net, sweet one, ‘till life has passed. I weep, for thou art moon and sun; my dream, when ere I sleep.

Thanks Cleo,
It looks like you changed the thread title and moved it? Did I get it close to the right place? **LOL** I thought I would try this one myself but doubt I'll have time before Valentine's day.
I hope you take this one up. ~~<@ Jackie

Alan McAlpine Douglas Hey there Alan, I thought this very cleverly done. But as JLY pointed out it is a bit short... not that it really matters. **S** But if you do decide to lengthen it I hope you leave that last stanza at the end... stands perfect there. ~~<@ Jackie

Wow, JLY,
You really took the challenge to heart. One might not always think to put visual over emotions in a love poem but you managed a great mixture of both to meet the challenge without tripping over the forbidden words. Well done!

Just changed the thread title only Jackie - it's still in the same forum. Yep, I had a thought last night on the first stanza for my reply and hope I'll remember it tomorrow when I sit to write it, LOL! Stay tuned! ~Cleo

I never got around to trying it myself. I really miss taking part in all your challenges. Mundane world has me hopping. I should be doing other things today but may have to give at least one a try before heading back to the grind.

Nope, we were on vacation as always during Valentine's Week and I spent about 3 hours each day at MM offering commentary, and wrote a few poems too, but didn't do any challenge responses. It's never too late though, so ya might just see me post something here soon... Work is a real headache at present with reviews, a special 2 week project stint that I've been blowing my top over these past 2 days (and another one weeker coming at end of March). This D2 project I've been part of for 3 years now is really making me so much more DIRECT and OUTSPOKEN. Seems no one wants to say what they think, so I DO it for them - time is a precious commodity we can't afford to waste - I've learned to say it like it is and watch everyone else nod their head in agrement with my words. Hey - at least when I say something, people listen now - only took about 20 years to come to... LOL LOL
