HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY
Falling snowflakes float gently by, beneath a brooding, cold gray sky. Frigid landscape tranquil and serene, I long for warm images, yet unseen.
On an icy snowdrift I ponder my fate, cherishing laughter of our first date. Tingling emotions dance deep within as charmed memories begin to spin.
Engulfed by a mix of wintry shivers, my passions flow like raging rivers; this thick, frosty mist can’t disguise, a glowing sparkle of your smiling eyes.
Forget the snow that covers the land, let’s flee to a beach of soft, white sand; therein, we’ll kindle cherished dreams, tenderly tickled by romantic themes.
As we turn yesteryears’ faded pages, devotion is the essence for the ages; no second guessing, nothing to rethink, two loving souls remain forever linked.
Together our desires will sail on high bound by a destiny we'd never defy. Each day with you is a precious gift, a life of love ne’er to be cast adrift.

John, this is a truly warm, charming tribute to your dear wife. She must have loved reading it. I hope you made a printout of it and presented it to her on a pretty tray with a red rose alongside... Jus' sayin'...that's what I would like!
I've chosen your final strophe as my favourite one, but it has been a difficult choice...
QUOTE Together our desires will sail on high bound by a destiny we'd never defy. Each day with you is a precious gift, a life of love ne’er to be cast adrift.
Your poem has also made me sad. I remember the times when my husband Carlos wrote dozens of poems dedicated to me, when we first started dating and for a long time thereafter. Humor, love, passion, you name it! That's why I've quoted the following strophe:
QUOTE Engulfed by a mix of wintry shivers, my passions flow like raging rivers; this thick, frosty mist can’t disguise, a glowing sparkle of your smiling eyes.
Even during his long years of dementia, Carlos showed his love for me...long after he'd stopped writing. I still feel the sadness of his absence, the void he left hovering around me when he died on January 6th., this year 2015.
Thank you, John, for sharing this emotionally revealing poem with us. I hope you both had a wonderful Valentine's Day.
Cheers, Syl***

Hello JLY, I also like this write dedicated to your spouse. Good word choices and rhymes make this poem a good one to remember, and I'm sure your spouse cherishes it. Sorry to hear about your cold weather; here in this part of Arizona it is citrus blossom time. Nice sunny days. Beautiful poem! No nits at all. Nice meeting you, : Jerry
