I'm very happy to have found your board. I moved to New Zealand from Northern California and am finding it very beautiful. One of my goals while here in this quiet country is to write, but one of my banes is procrastination. I hope being part of this writing community will stimulate my muse! I look forward to happy hours of reading and writing here.

Hello parquet and WELCOME TO MM!
We're certainly happy you stopped in and I hope to see you posting with us soon, as I believe it will stimulate your muse!
Wow - I would LOVE to have visited either of your "home turf" places! New Zealand, even though on the other side of the world, must be absolutely stunning!! I'm sure there are slang words you'll learn there amd then have to teach us, !
We offer honest, yet friendly feedback in our workshopping forums so I do hope you'll find yourself at home here, once you settle in. There are many members here with different skill levels and technique, which makes MM more comfortable, diverse and challenging if you become so inclined in your poetic journey.
There's so much to delve into, so please, wander our halls, take in our colorful 'tiles' and join in the fun. What type of poetry do you enjoy writing most and are there certain forms you often write in? Shall I assume the level of critique you would like to receive on your topics is 'light' to start (until we both learn what is desired)?
Each forum has its own 'forum participation rules' posted in a link at the top of the forums, so please have a read of them: http://forums.mosaicmusings.net/index.php?showtopic=8574 .
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me or any of our staff (AMETHYST, Arnfinn, Eisa, JLY, ohsteve, Psyche and Imhotep).
~Cleo

Hi, Cleo! You asked about the types and forms of poems I enjoy writing and I would have to say that I enjoy free verse as well as occasional forays into specific forms (sonnet, ghazal, rhymed quatrains, etc.). And as for the level of critique -- I would truly like the specific, helpful, straightforward kind. I don't need to start with 'light' -- though thanks for asking! - parquet
oh - a question: I enabled "fast reply" because it seems overly cumbersome to use "Quote" as a reply mechanism and then have to cut the quoted message out. However, I don't see where it comes up, so perhaps it isn't enabled on this forum -- or am I missing something?

Hi Susan!
Great to have you with us! MM is full of interesting forums for you to explore.
I live in Argentina. And I've also got a hankering after New Zealand. Don't know whether I'll make it in this life!
I'll take a peek at your postings. I bet I'll learn a lot from you.
Welcome, Psyche (Sylvia)

Hi Psyche - I visited Argentina once, at the end of a Chilean horse/canoe/hiking adventure that ended at Bariloche. I'm always reminded of that lovely trip when I sip some lovely Argentine malbec! Thanks for looking at my first posted poem here. - Susan (parquet)

Hi Sue, Welcome to our diverse family of writers! I'm sure you will enjoy it here and wish you happiness in your new New Zealand home. You will no doubt find out that South Africa and New Zealand are arch rivals in Rugby and delight rubbing each other noses in the dirt when our teams win. (an you just lost the tri nations !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Aside, we also have have another member from the Southern hemisphere to confuse the seasonal writers. Many South Africans live in NZ and love it. I will go read your first post now. Hugz, Wally

Hey Wally - I just discovered Rugby after moving here. Those All Blacks are something! Sure beats U.S. football. As to the seasons, it's just darn hard to get used to Xmas BBQs. Thanks for reminding me about the tri-nation loss... Cheers - Susan

Hi Parquet, OK - that's good to know - I fancy form poetry over fv, but mostly that's because I don't dabble enough in it. It sounds like you've been part of poetry forums for a while so you understand the logistics of it all - good!! "Fast Reply" is enabled here - you should see it at the bottom of threads - I'll double check it though later - I might not have enabled it for every forum we offer here at MM. Be back soon! ~Cleo

Dear All, My pencil name comes from John Greenleaf Whittier whose "Barbara Frietchie" captured me for poetry and rhymed with dittier as that's me, a dittyist. I don't fit well here at MM because I'm a maverick, not much committed to modern style poetry, rather interested in light verse and the style of the bards of yore. Only because there are so many of you who write/compose so well do I stay here, more to read than post. THe salutation 'Dear" I use because I started my very first post that way and because I'm an old phoughy! Actually it's due also that you're dear to me, especially if you read anything I write.
