What a great tribute to Mandela. The lines have the right amount of spiritual, perhaps mystical, flow of feelings and grief.
I like the finale very much indeed.
I'll return for another read asap. Just moved from my city apartment where I lived for many years, to a small house in a mountain and lake district in Argentine Patagonia.
It's been highly stressful. Beautiful surroundings don't always matter to one's heart and mind. I'm trying to adapt, with my sick husband in a new nursing-home.
The Lord replied, my precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.
"There is no life higher than the grasstops Or the hearts of sheep, and the wind Pours by like destiny, bending Everything in one direction."
Sylvia Plath, Crossing the Water, Wuthering Heights.

I'm sorry to be so late coming to this one. It is a lovely tribute, full of beautiful images.
I love these lines we are all floating islands counterweight to the stars
I wouldn't change a thing.

Live one day at a time -it's simpler that way. Laugh loud & often - it's medicinal. Write from the heart - it's therapeutic. Beauty comes from within - the outer is just skin!

A fresh un-cliched tribute to the Great Man.
Wonderful use of metaphore and symbols in context with his life.
I am deeply moved once more as memories settle into warm comfortable places but do not fade. He was revered by his people and I am proud to be one.

Agree with Wal's comments - this is indeed a lovely tribute to a man of greatness - One who with his humility and gentleness and great courage and pride managed to make a difference to the world.
