Hi,
I'm glad that Cleo has mentioned this. The webmasters (as well as the individuals concerned) are open to proceedings if copyright is broken. It is only fair of us to play fair because of this alone. However, think also how vexed you would be if someone simply "stole" your writing to place it elsewhere. You would be justifiably annoyed. The people who own the copyrighted images feel the same!
To give examples from my postings, I have always credited the website and provided a link there. I have never reproduced a complete piece of writing - just extracts. (The one exception is a translation from Welsh to English but the original was out of copyright. Nevertheless, I still credited the translator and mentioned where her books could be bought). I have copied over one image - the red dragon on a green and white background (i.e. The Welsh Flag) - which is the main representative symbol of Wales and not even England has yet had the cheek to copyright that!
So I think we must all take this sort of extreme caution. I might sound perfect; I'm most certainly not! I have made mistakes in the past and am well aware of the possible consequences; I write from experience, not superiority!
