Hello all!  Snowflake.gif

I wanted to congratulate Butch Sollars (Charon) for having his book, "Jingle Bells" published in his hometown of Gretna, Nebraska.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to the Optimist Club of Gretna, Nebraska.

...The timing couldn't have been worse to have a new child enter the world.  A harsh winter was upon them, blowing snow and bitter cold.
However, the town excitedly awaited the birth of the child.  When word came that Mrs. Bell was delivering the baby, everyone came to help.  The mayor's wife, Holly, had experience bringing babies in the world, so she helped.  The new little girl was born with nearly every person from town either sitting in the living room or on the front porch.  A big celebration, with much singing and dancing, was enjoyed by all.  The special moment of the night was when Cal Bells walked out on the balcony and held his new daughter up high so everyone could see the small child and declared her name - Jingle, Jingle Bells...

... While watching Jingle shine and play with her beads she kept in the box, he noticed they made a funny sound when she would shake it.  At his workshop he shaped and formed a small piece of metal until it became a flat cross.  He then curled the cross's four posts upwards and inwards until they created a ball.  Before closing the last post, he placed one of Jingle's beads inside.  When complete, he had a small round ball, with four slots, and a bead inside.  On top he punched a small hole and tied a piece of leather to it. When he shook it, the ball made a distinct sound.  "A Jingle," he whispered as he smiled...

"What could have made her peaceful with a mind
That nobleness made simple as a fire,
With beauty like a tightened bow, a kind
That is not natural in an age like this,
Being high and solitary and most stern?
Why, what could she have done, being what she is?
Was there another Troy for her to burn?"
WB Yeats "No Second Troy"
