Catfolk
Creeps the dusk gray shadows blurring The day has wound to resting time When softest touch tells softer purring Into my lap, you sweetly climb
The book I read can lay yet longer The story there is but a tale What promise told should be the stronger Weathered page, or love unveiled
A stroke will bring a meeted smile Which in turn will bring my own No restraint or no denial Love comes equal for love shown
Nestled, curled, in cat like fashion Feral furled, pure trust will keep In stillness rage this quiet passion Till darkness find us soft asleep

Hey there Sam. What a lovely poem! It's good to read your work again, been too long! I found this quite enjoyable, soft rhythms, easy rhymes and a cute cat story to boot! Whoever said Dog is man's best friend surely never had a cat! Enjoyed the read, ~Cleo

Thanks Lori;
A friend is putting together a scrapbook of her cats. I was honored that she asked me to compose a little poem for the inside cover. It's very rewarding that you like the poem.

Hi 4rum, Nice to meet you. Beautiful little poem and good use of trochaic falling metre alternating with iambic which goes well with fickle moods of a cat. It will be very suitable for the scrapbook I'm sure.
Thanks for sharing, Wally

Dear Thoth;
I am sincerely humbled by your knowledge and your wonderful comment on Catfolk. I'm afraid that any style or structure is incidental. Thank you so much for your much appreciated response though, I will study it and apply it as I can in the future.

Dear 4rum I'll take a dog over a cat anytime, but you've done the cat proud. The message is right on, as man loves cats more than they us, yet that's our problem, not theirs. If dogs could purr! From my point of view, there's music I hear when I read yours aloud. Nicely done! Cheers, ron jgdittier

Hi Sam - nice to meet you
Meow! what a lovely purring ode to the felines. Although I agree with Ron (dogs rule) - thoroughly enjoyed and empathized with this delightful poem.

I truly thank each and every one who commented on this poem. You don't know the lady so it's quite understandable that you think this poem is about a cat. It is not. 'rum

I'm not a cat person but this is so sweet I couldn't help but be charmed by it. I enjoyed the read.
Cheers
