Hello!

Well... it's difficult to start.
I'm from Russia, and now I'm a teacher of English.
First I began translating English poets into Russian, I was 24.
I succeeded, but I couldn't be better than our best translator S. Marshak (he was a genius).
Then I didn't translate or write anyting for a long time.
In 2003 I saw a translation of a good Russian poem into English and didn't like it at all. So I did it myself and wrote some of my own works. But seriously I started writing only last year.

I prefer writing iverhymes, but usually call them 'iverhycks' (this name sounds like 'limericks', at least partly).

Konstantin.

Hello Konstantin, wave.gif

As I've stated in PM to you already, WELCOME TO MM! Newbie.gif PartyFavor.gif Balloons.gif

We offer honest, yet friendly feedback in our workshopping forums so I do hope you'll find yourself at home here, once you settle in. There are many members here with different skill levels and technique, which makes MM more comfortable, diverse and challenging if you become so inclined in your poetic journey.

If you enjoy the shorter forms of poetry (7 lines or less), you may want to check out our "Shogun's Psalms" forum to start. What a neat way to enter into the poetry world. I too, enjoy a bit of a challenge, but only speak and write in one language, LOL!

I had wondered where your penname came from.

Looking forward to interacting with you!

Hi, Cleo.
Thank you for your invitations.
In fact, I've met both too kind (no critique at all) and too rude (you'd better write for comics and so on without any tips) feedback. And I must say I don't like the 1st type of it much more than the 2nd one. So, I'd prefer something constructive.

I don't usually write short works.
Though why not. I've got some quintets, when I told my American friend I'd written limericks and showed them, he said, "They aren't limericks but quintets". So, let it be...
Since November 2009 I've been writing very short acrostics (SNOW) - four lines.

Now about my penname.
In my profile you can read about my book "IVERHYMES!!!" The 2nd part of this name is 'RHYMES'. The translation of 'iverhyme' into Russian sounds 'neglarick'. That's why I began calling my works 'verhycks', but the book was already published...

Konstantin.
