Hello all.

In August it will be six months since our previous MM meeting in the UK. I think it might be an excuse for a.. meeting. Yes? :)

Lori will you be in the UK this Summer?

Any other non-UK MM residents in the UK this year?

Who will arrange this meeting (I arranged the previous two so maybe someone would care to sort this one, please?)

What date? Aug is good but people may be away on hols?

Where shall we meet? (Personal Suggestion: Country pub near a motorway and a railway station at least).

OK... over to all...

J.

Great idea James.  It will be lovely to get together again, I really enjoyed the last meeting.

August suits me fine as I have nothing much booked up at work, being the school holidays.

My personal preference for location is a pub near a railway station, possibly somewhere between London and Reading

Hi, everyone

Excellent idea - would be great to see as many as possible, especially if Cleo Serapis and Imhotep are flying in on their private jet at some stage. Perhaps we'd better wait to see when - or if - they are likely to come and where they'll be based?

Nina, I don't know that part of the country very well, so no good suggestions, sorry.

I will be away from 6th to 21st August   sun.gif

I don't know that part of the country either, I just thought it might be somewhere that is fairly easy for everyone to get to.

If you are away from 6 -21 August and James possibly before then, we need to be looking at 22 August onwards.

Yes, I think even possibly Sept as everyone comes back after hols. By the second week in Sept schools will be back (sorry parents!)

I do know the Reading area well - worked there for fifteen years. I know some pubs round, too. Good railway station and M4 motorway. If we did eventually settle for there I don't mind sorting out a pub but I'd still prefer it if someone else sorted out the best dates etc, please. Alan? Grace?

I don't mind sorting out dates, but I wouldn't know where to start with pubs

Dear friends,

Fri 26th Aug would be fantastic for me, as I will be travelling from East Grinstead, Sussex, to north Wales, where I am staying 2 nights for a Van Morrison party and concert.

So Reading, Oxford, a bit north, no problem at all.

I am available the rest of August as well, in case you are wondering.

I might bring a non-poetic friend with me, who is heavily into VM as well, but that is OK, his second great love is pubs !

Love
Alan

LOL, I don't think Alan will be too happy to see how you have described Van Morrison.  Though having said that Vamp Majestic isn't bad.

Hi Nina, Alan,

Oh Van Morrison! of course, sorry Alan! :)

Actually I saw that the other day - "van" is simply too modest, these days -  t'was a ruddy great big pantechnican, delivering supplies to a supermarket in Basingstoke.

:)

Good morning each ,  :hsdance:

Great idea!

Late August early September is fine by me ~ anywhere in the Reading area , preferably not on a Tuesday though.

If you read this Ephiny, the offer still stands for accommodation and pick up from airport. If you can come, it would be great if you could arrive the day before in case of flight delays. I am only half an hour from the airport, so any delays would be no problem.

Hi Lori -

But will you two be in the UK this year please (deciding dates will be affected since we wouldn't let you get away with coming here without saying "Hi").

The same, by the way, to any other non-UK resident: if you'll be in the UK this year please let us know and we will try to incorporate a date.

J.

Thanks for your reply, Lori.

>L>If we travel to the UK this year, it will most likely be in October but we haven't made any definate plans.

Well, that is influential on our timing - because if we're planning a meeting late Aug / Early Sept, then Oct is only the following month. And anyway, it's only four months from now. When will you know, please Lori?

Cheers, J.

Perhaps we should just go ahead and arrange something anyway - rather than pressuring the Deities? Then we have an excuse for another meeting if they decide to visit.

Dear Fran,

Don't know about others, but as Lori's trip is in no way settled, I think we should carry on with our Aug meeting, and institute a SPECIAL if/when Lori and Peter
make it over here.

Otherwise we could end up with none.

Love
Alan

I agree with Alan and Fran.  We should go ahead anyway.  I'd be happy to meet up in August and October.

Hi all,

OK sounds good - though I personally am still doubtful for Aug. Have we opted for Aug over Sept yet? I may know more in a few days.

Nina - did you agree to be volunteered to organise this? Certainly as far as dates etc are concerned? If not, I think Alan?

:)
