Alfresco
Cold winter’s dying present to the spring is swallowed by a burgeon green. Arise bright flowers, lift your heads; let colors sing a silent song for bees and butterflies
to dance through golden dust. In tireless streams, small candy-coated feet waltz powdered plane of petaled floors. Now laden, each one deems it’s time to rise on wings of diaphane.
Fly over bowers or to honeyed home to share that springtime’s sustenance. Equate with mother’s milk or manna in the comb. Food for a queen and hatchlings she’ll create
to take her place at Gaia’s grand buffet ere summer’s sizzle takes it all away.

Nice images, Larry, especially now that there are a number of tulips brave enough to poke above ground where the snow has departed.

Hi Merlin,
It's so nice to see you back. Missed you and your wizardly verses. Thanks for the nice words and I'm glad your flowers are finally daring to bloom.
No snow down here in SE Louisiana; my roses have been blooming for a month now and my Peruvian Irises will soon be in full bloom. Amaralis and Glads haven't bloomed yet but should start in a couple of weeks. Seems like late spring.
The X10 is in the weekly challenges in the Acropolis forum.
Again, thanks for dropping in.
Larry

Hi Larry, I found my way into the challenge section once again - I HAVE been away. I see I'll need to get back into the swing of things, moreso as I have a number of trees on the property now. I did a few short limericks over yonder, so before too long, I may have something worthwhile to contribute.

Dear Larry,
Another fine sonnet from you - almost made me interested in spring etc, which usually leaves me cold.
Love Alan

So beautiful, Larry! I love the delicate yet powerful words you've used. It's such a wonderful experience to read your sonnets. Everything seems to come alive with your imagery, nature flowing gracefully towards Spring, changing colours and perpetual movement expressed in every line.
Putting "your best foot forward" in all your pieces is a wondrous treasure for us, your readers.
If I could learn a tiny bit from you, I'd consider myself satisfied.
I'm so glad that several great sonnet writers are present again in this forum. Cheers to Ron, from whom I haven't seen anything lately.
I eagerly await Merlin's new piece, if I haven't already missed it.
And Liz, please, when will you offer us your own fantastic work?
I'm sure I've missed out somebody... Snow and Thoth, both posting, a pleasure to read!
Cheers to all, Syl*** PD: Great word, 'diaphane', Larry. I stumbled a bit there, but looked it up and found it's taken from the French. It took me some time! One gets the impression that the line 'falls down' there, but on proper reading, it's marvellous!

Hi Sylvia, Thanks for the visit and the kind words. I am very sorry that, here lately, I have been remiss in visiting this forum or submitting anything but limericks, haiku, etc. in the poetic exercise forum. Been quite busy and muse-less but hope to get back to my old form soon. Again, thanks, Larry

I don't even get to the poetic exercise forums. Those are the best, to keep one's mind tuned up!
But still I hope you post new sonnets here, Larry. I'll be waiting!
Cheers, Syl***
