~ Beauty By The Sea ~
She’d lie and take the sun like painted peace, and feigning sleep I’d watch. My dutiful eyes, following her contours in release, would find the more about her beautiful. The cool of breeze and gentle waves becalmed; led moments into hours and for me, she’d hold a depth of beauty that disarmed, and touched our years in multiplicity. She’d waken and my eyes could not retreat. A question in her smile and I would grin, and turn away. Yet, soon our eyes would meet: aware and unaware of that within.
At home she’d praise the beauty by the sea, and I would smile and secretly agree.
