Oh Gracie. You were first and you will be last.

As they used to say in the Army.

"There's nowt strange about Carruthers"

I changed it while Alan and James were cogitating.
But thank you for the suggestions guys.

Hugz

Tom

I see, Tom...

And I thought our Birkenhead trysts were special.

Evidently, it's been Grace all the time.

Well, be like that!

Good luck to you Grace... don't forget he has ALL his bandages changed TWICE a day or he gets musty.

J.

PS For your info Tom, there ARE one or two things about Carruthers I could tell you about. Didn't you notice how he crooked his little finger whilst drinking from a tea cup?

Thank you Tom.

A most moving tribute to a relationship which simply ran out of semi-colons.

Hi

Hey....I've just been checking out all the fun the crew have been having Tom grinning.gif Has the final revision been carried out?

This is a very moving piece. Actually Tom...if I was an old vet..or digger... this would be a lovely way to pass on. Back with your freshface comrades, going back to the parade ground.

I checked your message out a SP....What was the regiment..The Liverpool Rifles?

Best I ever achieved was Nashoes....2/768890......RAAOC....All you oldies are the hero's.

Anyway, I loved your poem.......a tribute to all the armed forces that fought to preserve what we have today. Freedom.

Kind regards

John

Hello John.
I made a small adjustment to an awkward line in the last verse. Grace sorted it for me. Now it's done and dusted.
This poem is about two old comrades from WWI. I think I mentioned it somewhere along the way.
When the guys volunteered for this war, they went from every small town and village. They trained and fought together as an extended family, and each town called it's unit The Pals. So these two lads would have been in the Liverpool Pals. Proper title, the Kings Liverpool Regiment.
Now me, I volunteered for the Royal Welch Fusiliers, same as my father before me.
Alas, different times. I ended up as an RSI in the First Battalion, East Lancashire Regiment. 1952/ 1957
laugh.gif Call me an oldie again and I'll sit on your head. laugh.gif

Hi Tom,

Wont call you an oldie anymore. How about middle aged?

Ya Know.....When I was fifty.....I was inbetween 0 n' 100...kinda thing...
everyone can be middle aged.....even a four year old kid grinning.gif

Mate........ya can be anything in the forces as far as I'm concened..............cept' the RSM. OR ... anyone who carries a swagger stick. laugh.gif Can't remember how many times me 'brass was dirty'.

Your poem would go over very well ... on ANZAC Day 25/04.

You must have a fair voice seeing your a Taffy.

My Uncle was a Compositer....and he worked in Wales before the war.

He told me(I was only a kid).....He said he used to go to work on a bus............He said you'd only go about half a mile and some deep baritone, would start to sing.......by the time the bus reached Cardiff.....you had a Welsh Choir on wheels laugh.gif

See ya later smart.gif

Dear John

".by the time the bus reached Cardiff.....you had a Welsh Choir on wheels"

Hysterical !

Sounds like the spark for a poem ?

Love
Alan
