Grazing horses wait
mealtime hay now arrives lean patience now filled. Pasture given rest worn blades growing tall showing hidden bloom. New pasture bridge-way six hundred foot mud puppies from wetland to here. Overhang gutter downspout channeling filling water trough. Canadian wind cold pulling mane southward summer to winter. |

I can see those horses so clearly New pasture bridge-way six hundred foot mud puppies from wetland to here. I think someone already asked Stephen - what are mud puppies? Overhang gutter downspout channeling filling water trough. Raining Hard? Canadian wind cold pulling mane southward summer to winter. Raw North wind? This whole poem shows how in tune you are with Nature and the world around you Stephen - your love of the land and horses is brilliantly portayed here. What amazing kind goodwill you write with, Grace,
thank you. Horses are all the more fun after a year of new pasture building, feeding, and learning to ride from a Shou-Lynn type of teacher. Two years ago I only knew then on TV. Mud puppies are a type of amphibian, 3"-7" long and looks like a salamander, yet lives in H2O. The ones mentioned crawled 600 ft in a ditch. Yes, occationally it rains hard south of drizzly Seattle. Yes, we ususally get moist wet wind from the Pacific. When it occationally comes from the north it's often much cooler, whether dry or wet, from Alaska or the Canadian Yukon. Yeah! Ride em cowboy. Very descriptive Stephen. That cold wind will be arriving any day now. A few more weeks and it will be time to get the snowploughs out.

I do wince from that lame boo-boo. Next time I aim to look better between shoveling snowed drifts and making a snow herd. 'Brahms whitened' [try a snow haiku?] |
