flow
of blood
increases
when you let go
of your sliced finger;
so keep the pressure on
with that sterile piece of gauze
tightly holding it on your cut
until we get to the hospital

tall
mountains
are covered
with hard packed ice
under the snow caps
that melt and coalesce
and may cause an avalanche
which races down to the valley
or join glaciers for the long hard grind

When power leads man toward arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the areas of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of his existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy

Those
I love
will gather
to celebrate
Thanksgiving wishes
and enjoy each other's
feast and cocktail offerings,
a little football, lots of laughs
and plenty of glorious moments

Collaboration feeds innovation. In the spirit of workshopping, please revisit those threads you've critiqued to see if the author has incorporated your ideas, or requests further feedback from you. In addition, reciprocate with those who've responded to you in kind.

"I believe it is the act of remembrance, long after our bones have turned to dust, to be the true essence of an afterlife." ~ Lorraine M. Kanter

Nominate a poem for the InterBoard Poetry Competition by taking into careful consideration those poems you feel would best represent Mosaic Musings. For details, click into the IBPC nomination forum. Did that poem just captivate you? Nominate it for the Faery award today! If perfection of form allured your muse, propose the Crown Jewels award. For more information, click here!

to send
you and yours
a wonderful
Thanksgiving greeting
and wish you all the best
in this holiday season
and may next year be much better
than anything you could imagine.

Thanks for dropping in, Lori! I'm thankful for all the activity on your site of late!!!

jeans
I wear
demonstrate
that I'm thankful
for having lost weight
and can just hang out
comfortably with my kin
enjoying a sumptuous meal
that we didn't cook for the first time

time
to shop
for next year
could be right now
with all of the sales
when they give stuff away
for little or nothing and
before the returns are on shelves
waiting for those last minute shoppers.

empty
at our home
while we're fixing
up our new old house
hoping to move in spring
then fix up our present home
for someone else to move in there
while we hope they won't destroy the thing!

a kiss

it
is not
intended
as acrostic
but you may keep on
practicing your penchant
for wrapping everything in words
that summarize the things you write
and go to the heart of your nonets

nets
may catch
lots of things
but thoughts are rare
which might be enmeshed
in such porous trappings
so walls of words must be built
to contain meanings held within
and emphasize them like a picture.

your
end-word
means to trap
and enmesh me?
you build a word-wall
that means to confound me?
why would you do such a thing?
true friends would never act this way!
I would never end with a scribble!

I hope you see the tongue-bulge in my cheek!

bull
is bad
as was mine
but the options
that could be used
are more limited.
your, which you utilized
could have been you’re, tour, sure and
a few more if I went through my
thesaurus or used the alphabet

Bet you like this ending better!

wagering each time
someone enters the room

keep out

they put on your pocket
that makes you want to get rid
of that uncomfortable thing --
your rocker or old automobile

you get
for buying
all those presents
can be a good proof
that it is much better
for you to give than receive
whenever you hear a child laugh
in enjoyment as you write the checks.

too much
