I'm sorry, Denis, but the size goes haywire today. No idea why, because I do the usual stuff. You'll have to use what we call a "lupa", forget the English translation.

Welcome to the Club Psyche, for I am just as confused regarding size and other aspects of this site Psyche as you appear to be! I keep thinking it is me - with eyesight that some days is almost non existent - I use Size 18 in my WordPerfect programme, and still have problems! Add the 'fact' that I am of UK origin and my spelling is the genuine English language, using the - inbuilt- Spell Checker - can be laughable at times. At my age, paucity and American spelling does not sit well with me, but there seems to be no UK English spell checker that Microsoft uses. For the most part, I refuse to accept their offerings, and consider it as being one an insult to my Tutors. No more than their way to ensure they get their way in all matters it would seem!

No I'm not stubborn! Just firmly convinced I am my own man and to hell with anyone who thinks otherwise! Lol. I admire someone such as yourself, who has such a command of a 'foreign' language as yourself, to use it competently, for English - as "She be spoken" -and seen, can be and often is, difficult for the Native inhabitants, without having to learn it as a second language! Having travelled to many countries myself - over the years - Ex Royal Navy as a Leading Writer - my Designation - during the Korean War, and being able to 'pick up' the language used in various countries - heard and spoken only - not written - Japanese, Malayan, Spanish and Portuguese - all promptly forgotten on reaching Home and familiar soil, I can relate to some very amusing - and embarrassing events! Size? I have developed my own system for reading what I find 'small' - I highlight: copy and take t my WordPerfect programme, where I form my replies, and then reverse the process. Daniel says to ensure we include all in our "sizing". I try to remember but nothing - some days - seems to work.

Sorry for my ?diatribe? Psyche and whomsoever might be reading, but it is damnably hot right now, and I'm fretting to get back to my garden. Fondest Rhymer aka Denis.

Your diatribes are funny and welcome. I have only my mother to thank for my English. She spoke it to me whilst I was in the cradle. All parents should speak whatever language(s) they know to their babies. Grammar comes naturally to kids, they learn it without knowing the rules. I thank my Dad for sending me to the little rural school, where my friends were mestizos or pure indigenous. It helped the mindset I have now. I understand how people are discriminated against and all the horrible murders going on these weeks.
Sorry about the heat in Arizona, we're having cold, rainy days,Winter started officially today, which is also father's day here. To round it off, it's also the anniversary of the death of my son Robert, who took his life aged 21. He had schizophrenia and was deluded by visions and voices, despite medication. So, all in all, no day for celebration. I'll go back to the challenges and hope size 4 works!

Hi Denis, so sorry you're having problems with the size and so on. I also get bad results with that, as you well know. As for U.K. English, my mother spoke it to me when I was still in the cradle, as I've repeated about 100 times! Children learn languages without need of a grammar or "spell checker", they just come to them, it's automatic. When I was finally sent to bilingual boarding school in Buenos Aires, I spoke better English than anyone else. I could recite Shakespeare's soliloquies and other modern or old poems by heart within 10 minutes of reading them. Doing some showing off here, but I really know it was my Mother's wisdom.
I already answered your message, so I wont repeat myself again. Hope you drop in now and again. Love to Pauline and yourself, and all the family.
