Limerick, Poetic Form Exercise Options

She won't know that one side's popped out
'cause she's fallen asleep, and no doubt
since she'd pumped up her melons
men who see act like felons
who lie quietly down and stake out.

Who lies quietly down and stakes out
pretty girls on the beach that may flout
laws of decency are
several floors below par
and they probably need a good clout.

If you clout every fool on the beach
just because he enjoys a fine peach
you may have to unload
till your knuckles implode
should you smack every one you could reach.

[Larry]

Should you smack everyone you could reach
New Years night? There’s a few who might screech;
claiming you have assaulted
and then you’d be faulted
with lip service churches don’t preach.

[JustDaniel]

If your church preaches sermons on lip
service times may be long; you could skip
when they're singing the hymns
to go stretch out your limbs
and sneak back during prayer for round trip.

[Larry]

Sneak a prayer for your round trip and back
or at rest stops when having a snack;
there’s no cost and the time
that you spend is sublime
and you may make it home without flack.

[JustDaniel]

If there's flack when you fin'lly come home
then you must practice grace for shalom
'cause you're not a nice guy
and your anger's not shy;
just relax, shave your head, toss your comb.

[Larry]

Just relax, shave your head, toss your comb
as you sit lotus-like and chant Ohm
in your loose saffron cowl.
Everybody’s your pal
and you look like a bald garden gnome.

[JustDaniel]

Since I look like a bald garden gnome
I've no use for my old barber comb
that I bought at the shop
where old Jim used to crop
my blonde locks that have lost their way home.

[Larry]

Blonde locks lost and their home is now sparse
where the grey can now play. It’s a farce
to grow long straw like hair
and conceal what’s not there
for comb-overs are not what I’d parse.




Daniel, my prior limerick was not aimed at you.

If your comb roves all over your purse
then memorialize it in verse.
Perhaps then you won't fret...
or at least you will get
something else for your hair from your nurse.

From your nurse, something else for your hair
which you lost by applying some Nair
that you thought was Brylcream
but was not. Now you seem
to be needing a toupee up there.

No hair? You'll be needing to pay,
but onlookers may say, Quest-ce que c'est?
Do you wear a muskrat?
What's that under your hat?
Then the wind blows the thing far away.

[Larry]

When the wind blows the thing far away
you go buy a new kite and then play
with a much stronger string
and a tail that helps bring
childhood fun that you’ve wanted to stay.

[JustDaniel]

If you stay in your childhood and play
silly games so you laugh night and day,
but your friends stop and study
while you goof with your buddy,
before long your whole life's gone astray.

[Larry]

If your life’s gone astray, before long
you may realize what can go wrong
so you straighten things out
because there is no doubt
you’ll be learning that old Sing Sing song.

[JustDaniel]

If you've learned an old song from Sing Sing
then it's not because you'd earned some bling,
but stole it from someone,
could not afford bailsman
and ended up there lest you swing.

[Larry]

When your end is up there, you swing less
for a downward arc starts I would guess
and there’s no one to push
one more time on your tush
which you’d rather have someone caress.

[JustDaniel]

If you're wishing your butt be caressed
don't ask sister lest there be incest!
You had best seek a wife
who'll stay with you for life
and who'll see all your longings addressed.

[Larry]

If you add your long dress who will see
you in drag by your big vanity
but folks have little doubt
that you’ll ever step out
of your house. I concur heartily.
