Stopping short when he heard a gun fired
helped him stay among those unexpired,
so he went to his church
and with pastor researched
how to share gratitude that this sired.

[Larry]

Gratitude that's been sired helps you share
even when times are hard, you can spare
a small part in your quest,
be eternally blessed
and show Him that you've learned how to care.

[JustDaniel]

Let me show you I've learned how to fudge
when I write leaving nary a smudge
after twisting your words
so they tweet with the birds
leaving sounds that you'd never begrudge.

[Larry]

You would never begrudge a leaf’s sound
in the trees or when down on the ground
rustling in the breeze
or the crunch as they freeze
and when mulched, fertilizers abound

[JustDaniel]

Fertilizers abound when you pile
leaves and grass, and it's further worthwhile
when you stir in leftovers
from dinner; moreover
you'll find two-year mulch versatile.

[Larry]

You'll find too much mulch adverse to till
so you disc it once more and it will
mix quite well with the soil
and will lessen the toil
that's required of the bushels you fill.

[JustDaniel]

To fill bushels with apples requires
gath'ring up what each picker acquires.
What is left on the ground
will make sauce or a mound
of fruit in the pies your wife fires.

[Larry]

In the pies my wife bakes there is fruit
and some other stuff. She remains mute
as to what she puts in.
She'll just stand there and grin
as she serves it with ice cream to boot.

[JustDaniel]

If your wife serves ice cream in your boots,
I suppose that's okay if it suits
such distinguishing taste;
leave my order unplaced
but with thanks. I'll not join her recruits.

[Larry]

The recruits didn't join with a thanks
they were drafted and learned the mare's shanks
as they marched on the beach
drill instructors would screech
we'll teach you how to shoot and drive tanks.

[JustDaniel]

If your tank drives you nuts with the noise
just remember that you're learning poise;
helmet stays on your ears
as you learn to chew fears
and mature to be one of the boyz.

[Larry]

When the boys are mature they are men
but the girls want to know where they've been.
Do they have a good job
or did they steal and rob
to afford the new car they are in.

[JustDaniel]

If a Ford's the new car that you drive
will she think that you really will thrive
and be able to buy
all the things that her eye
looks upon... or will she be deprived?

[Larry]

Upon being deprived of her looks
she relies on the things which she cooks
to enhance what she’s lost
plus she lowers the cost
of her makeup. Perfume comes from books.

[JustDaniel]

She has booked shows for makeup, perfume
and some other things women consume
at the homes of her friends;
she finds great dividends
until she meets a near-empty room.

[Larry]

In a near-empty room she will meet
someone new; feel her life is complete
but the once perfect stranger’s
a dog in the manger;
and marriages give him cold feet.

[JustDaniel]

If you've married a lass with cold feet
get a foot-warmer for the petite
little woman you love
with God's grace from above;
it's a joy that your kids will repeat.

[Larry]

If the kids are a joy you repeat
then I’d say to hold on to your seat
for if two or three’s great,
try for seven or eight
and you’ll soon have a team to compete.

[JustDaniel]

If your team can't compete after noon
they will not win the championship soon;
must be willing to play
other times of the day
or your place in the standings will swoon.

[Larry]

If you swoon while you’re standing in place
you’ll wind up where the ground meets your face
and you might break your nose,
at least muss up your clothes.
If your ass hits first there’s not a trace.
