depending on the condition
and appeal of your bod;

fluctuate with each year
but in some places like hooters
the fashion will always remain the same;
butts hang out of minimal shorts’
busts are barely covered
and the biggest
tends bar

friend's bar
is neighborhood
haunt for would-be singers
who surround the old piano
singing oldies and some of the current
favorites and some harmonize
while others have tie ears
whose singing drives
friends far

for friends
separated
by long distance and time
a get-together is needed
to keep in touch and talk about old times,
catch up on new things happening,
toast new wives and babies,
laugh, love and care
for friends

for funds
kids collected
bottles for deposits
transporting them in a wagon
and taking them all at once to a store;
the manager kindly paid them
and showed them his candy
which was their need
for funds

for fun
some people are
adrenaline junkies
who indulge in dangerous things
which may kill or maim them one of these days
but it doesn’t seem to matter
until they wind up with
all their pieces
far flung

off a building
bounced off of the pavement
then struck an Uber passenger
who just finished lowering his window;
though he was seriously hurt
his fellow-passenger
lost his life from
barf lung

lunch bar’s
happy hour
by the shipping channel
served workers beer and sandwiches
before they had to clean out the ships hold
which smelled bad from the morning catch;
new guys did the most work
and fed the gulls
barge lunch

large bunks
for fishermen
keep them off of the deck
to discourage them from gambling
because they tend to lose their resources
even before getting their checks;
this promotes their having,
after they're paid,
large banks

large banks
above rivers
will halt easy access
to most casual fishermen
but one who is also a carpenter
can build steps and a real nice pier
where everyone can fish
out of some smooth
larch planks

Lurch plunks
out with You rang?
for Addams Family;
but these days I can't remember
much else about the black-and-white series
because my brain finds it harder
to embrace distant facts;
each and every
lurch plunks.

punks lurch
through their sad lives
dealing and doing drugs
until they are caught by police
who will finally take them off the street
and give them a place to live free
at taxpayer’s expense
in their jail cells;
lunks perch

filled with goodies
along with sandwiches;
Mommy was careful to pack them
so that nothing would be crushed; the Thermos
of hot soup and milk container
formed the bottom layer
then bananas
bunch couch

buns crunch
when they’re crispy
and you make sandwiches
but using too much mayonnaise
will make them soggy when you start to eat
though cleaning up is easier
because you will find that
mayonnaise helps
crumbs bunch

bench crams
all the players
into a small dugout
while their team is off of the field
but that makes their batting more exciting
when they're cheering the man at bat
when someone is on base,
but a strikeout
crams bench

cram beach
with sunbathers
catching the last warm days
for picnics with the family
and chilly swimming for the brave at heart
then winter winds will bid goodbye
to all but the seagulls
leaving sand and
breached clams

beach clams,
like razor types,
are easily spotted
by the tiny blow holes they make;
around the hole, dig with a clam shovel,
fall to your knees and dig with hands,
grab shell with your fingers,
pulling hard to
beach clam

[Larry]

calm beast
bothers no one
and if it’s not hungry
will probably sleep peacefully
which resembles an infant human baby
resting against its mother’s breast
with no surrounding noise
and that’s how heart
beats calm

clam feats
are limited
to avoiding diggers
(I'm speaking of the razor type):
when they see wee holes in the sand they dig
then fall to their knees to attempt
to grasp those elusive
beasts who flee with
clam feet

clam feet
are misnomers
for they only have one
unless they are used to measure
the size of the bucket you are using
when digging them up from the beach
and say you have the proof
to match your ten
foot claim
