Snippet Song

Like the cherry blossoms pink and white,
like the snow-flakes on a warm spring day,
all memory of Samantha Wright
has vanished, melted, blown away.

Sometimes I hear the melodies
but sorrow and sadness harmonize
extinguishing old flames of gold
and I plod on with downcast eyes.

That sweet dream: lost. It's rent and gone.
A smile adorns the fairest face
but now a scowl is in its place.
A star-filled sky – oh how they shone.

Outside, this beauteous summer night
the snippets sing on laden twigs;
their song is carefree, apropos:
farewell to death's unholy glow.

snippers used: flames of gold; death's unholy glow; oh how they shone; adorns the fairest face; that sweet dream; with downcast eyes; all memory of; like the snow-flakes; this beauteous summer night; on laden twigs; sorrow and sadness; hear the melodies. Not in order.

What a fascinating response to this snippet challenge Merlin! magicwink1.png

It is sad to me - as if the woman, Samantha, has either passed away or simply left the narrator. I will read this one again when I return from vacation!

These snippets are part of this challenge in the Acropolis (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's Poetry snippets) at http://forums.mosaicmusings.net/index.php?showtopic=872.

Would you mind adding this poem to that thread also please? magiccool.gif

Enjoyed the read!

Thank ye Lori,
enjoy the time away - I'm watching via FB.

You're right re the sense of loss. As often, the writer and narrator are different. The writer had a breakup in mind, but I see where either is possible and leads to the reader's interpretation. Bonus. The N doesn't disclose the answer.

Thanks for looking in.

M

PS - I thought that snippets were little birds.
