I wish I could have known you better. I wish I could have loved you more. I wish we'd had more time together before you had to pass through Heaven's door.
And I wish you could have had more time. I wish you could have had less pain. I wish I could go back in time to have the chance to be with you again.
But Heaven's a better place right now because, Danielle, you're finally home. Still, I find it hard to carry on left here on earth - all on my own.
Sometimes I'd like to think that God is mean 'cause things turned out the way they did. But, in my heart, I know the blame's not His, though the price you paid was too high for a kid.
But Heaven's a better place right now, because, Danielle, you're finally home. Still, I find it hard to carry on, left here on earth - all on my own.
And I wish I could have made you better. I wish you'd never gotten sick at all. I wish you hadn't missed out on your life - to have to die so young's not logical.
But Heaven's a better place right now, because, Danielle, you're finally home. Still, I find it hard to carry on, left here on earth - all on my own.
Tomorrow will come, so will the rain - filled with sorrow, filled with pain. But some other day, the sun will shine. Then, all I'll remember is that you were mine.
But Heaven's a better place right now, because, Danielle, you're finally home. Still, I find it hard to carry on, left here on earth - all on my own.

Hi Nefertiti
This is such a sad painful poem to read. Your emotions come across so clearly. The anger and pain that your sweet little niece was taken from you so young.
I have just realised that it is written as a song with verses and a chorus? Have you written music to go with it?
Thank you for sharing something so personal and emotional
Nina

Beth...
It seems so long since I've seen you on here. Welcome back!
This is, indeed, such a sad tale and, apparently, a personal one. I have a friend who is an undertaker and he tells me that they are hardened to most things but the death of children still causes even them problems.
I'm sorry about your niece - you two sounded very close. I can't tell how recent this was but I do home time passing helps.
This is not a crit forum but, even so, I'd just like to say I think this song very well written. Have you tried to put it to music yet?
All the very best and I hope to see you here more.
Regards, James.

Hi Nina and James!
Thank you so very much for your kind words. I wrote this immediately after receiving the news yesterday (3/24/05) afternoon. I guess it's my way of dealing with the grief since I can't cry. No, I haven't written the music yet but it's in my head. It tends to be born along with the lyrics. I just need to get it on paper. Heaven knows you DO NOT WANT TO HEAR ME SING! (Worse tha American Idol rejects!!!!)
And, sadly, yes, it's been way too long since I've been able to play here. But, finally, life is settling down again and my emotions have popped the cork, so we'll see what happens! Again, my HEARTFELT thanks. It's like a BIG HUG in this time of sorrow.
Big Hugs Right Back Atcha! Beth

Hello Nefertiti!
Nefertiti resurrrected again!
Beth - my sincere sympathies. Shock
Your emotion shines through in this heartfelt piece. The repetition reinforces the pain we all feel when a loved one passes on.
I especially like your refrain as it gives hope:
But Heaven's a better place right now, because, Danielle, you're finally home.
Hugs to you Beth! ~Cleo

Hi Lindi!
Thank you for your sympathies. I talked to my sister-in-law and she told me her daughter, Danielle's cousin, saw a bright light following her outside. When she went to get in the car, an outline of a smile and a waving hand appeared and Lexi knew it was Danielle waving goodbye. It helps comfort, knowing that she is smiling and all right. I mean, how much better can it get than Heaven, right?
Thanks again so very much!
Beth

Thank you, Cleo!
I know Danielle is far better off now, but it's still kinda hard to realize I won't see her around. I wish I could have had more time to spend with her. She was a good kid.
Anyway, the services are on Thursday and I think that will bring out the real emotion. Then, the healing can come. Thankfully, tomorrow, all the Easter M&Ms will go on sale so I can really stock up!
LOVE YOU! Beth

Hi You Almighty stud, you!
Well, seems the only way I can express meself emotionally is in writing. Usually just bottle 'em up. Mostly, I 'm just a grumpy mama lately (kids on Spring break - ARG!) Anyway, it may be two more years before I can spew anything else forth, but Danielle deserved so much better than she got in life. Thankfully, I'm sure it's more than made up for in Heaven.
Biggest Hugs, B.
