One Silent Night: Blank Verse
A lamb awakes from sound of critter howls and stumbles through the door of an old barn. A baby sleeps where livestock eat new hay. The woolly one draws nigh to snuggle close as cattle low contented lullaby. They sleep together in a manger's hay as mothers watch. The lights of night grows bright. The night is calm, the babies rest in peace. In fields the shepherds watch their grazing flocks. A message trumpets clear and they obey. The wise men too, come to see the wee babe. Amid the shepherds' lambs, they stoop to view the child in swaddled clothes. They bow to praise the one foretold. Behold the prince of peace !
