Northland Christmas
If you’re ever in the northland .......where the snow is really deep, take some moments to consider .......if the grizzlies are asleep. Then go walking through a forest, .......breathe the fresh and fragrant air, see the pine boughs fully laden .......with their brumal outerwear.
Should that be in mid December .......when our daylight shrinks to short, you might catch a sleigh-bell jingle, .......hear a team of horses snort, pulling logs out to a farmyard .......for the buzz saw, when it runs, or for Grandma’s cozy fire .......where she’s baking hot cross buns.
There, atop the load of timber .......is a dandy fresh-cut spruce, picked to decorate a parlor .......where they’ll dine on Christmas goose. Bright red baubles, yellow ribbons, .......popcorn garlands, tinsel strands, and a crowning, fragile angel .......proclaim Christmas, northern lands.
