Oh, Lori!  What a lovely picture!  SIgh!  Makes me realize just how jaded I've become!  I guess that's what California will do to you! LOL! Evidently all that sun fries the brain and makes it hard and rubbery.  I do so appreciate these lovely sentiments!  Reminds me of the good old days when I still thought holidays could be like a Norman Rockwell portrait! LOL!

Big Cynical Hugs,
B.

Why thankies Cathy and Beth!  :reindeer:  :snowflake:  :snowman:

I was thinking: I wonder how many families actually still celebrate the holidays in the manner of the *old days?

*Where being together and feasting were the most important aspects - getting the entire family (and friends) to visit - each bringing their own dish chef.gif to add to the pot-luck supper.  :stocking:  If gifts were exchanged, it was something hand-made.  :present: And everyone went downtown (as it were) to join in around that gazebo (in a snowstorm) to sing carols, drink up some hot creamy cocoa or eggnog  :speechless:  and celebrate.  :menorah:  :xmastree:

A Norman Rockwell scene - YES.  :holly: Complete with Sleigh ride!

Glad you enjoyed.

Wish Christmas could still be like this you paint.....now family is so widely scattered, it is very difficult to get everyone togrther at one time at any event. I would love a community caroling event in town square.....no such event is ever planned here. Just the anual tree lighting at the courthouse in November. A Christmas parade weeks before Christmas. And alas.....I have never known a sleigh ride....snow is rare....if we ever had it at Christmas no one would own a sleigh. That's a pleasure many of us will never know. Where can one find this these days? Wish I knew.....would be a wonderful place to live and raise children.
Got sidetracked. Darted in to say what a lovely poem this is. A perfect Christmas picture ! A delight to read !

"...We are born into the world like a blank canvas
and every person that crosses our path takes up the brush and makes their mark upon our surface.
So it is that we develop.
But we must realize there comes a day that we must take up the brush and finish the work. For only we can determine if we are to be just another painting or a masterpiece..."

Hi Lori, it's a pity you're not entering the competition per se - I was going to wish to "Good Luck."

In any case, well done for writing this clever and in-keeping piece. Thanks for the read.

Good luck to everyone taking part!

J.
