The Nonet is a pleasing form in that when centered on the page, looks like a reversed triangle.
This form has nine lines. The first line has nine syllables, the second line eight syllables, the third line seven syllables, and so on... until line nine that ends the poem with one syllable. It has no other required elements.
line 1 - 9 syllables line 2 - 8 syllables line 3 - 7 syllables line 4 - 6 syllables line 5 - 5 syllables line 6 - 4 syllables line 7 - 3 syllables line 8 - 2 syllables line 9 - 1 syllable
Have fun! Daniel - I hope you'll post some as examples? :sun:

Didn't notice this, LorII! Here's one to start things off: Whirlwind Dancin’ Ain’t Wrong After All
dancing free from Satan’s lies, I’m one with brother, friend, and ‘enemy’ in bounding, senseless Fantasy yet Truth in all its bindings sensing it may expound unbound, now feeling things forbidden that in truth were not wrong

How about an acrostic nonet: Eviction
Eventually this day would come;
villain – this procrastination
inexorably . . . must end,
crashing all about you
~ still, my heart pounds out ~
to let you know
it’s firmly
ordered
now

Dear Daniel
Love these two !
Here's a acrostic right back at you, which has the extra dimension of being a picture poem as well !
WHIRLWIND
What a joy, to be in Kansas now, hoping for something to happen; interesting, or p'raps not. Ready to live, to jump, like flying through air whirled by the wind. I am up ! No, go down.
Alan McAlpine Douglas
If this one seems slightly lame, it is. I had a much better one which when nearly finished, the computer crashed, and I lost it, together with that spark of create that set it off.
Love Alan

According to an undisclosed source
McAlpines are out of their trees.

Dear Daniel
Well ! I'm honored ! (I think ! )
No one has ever written me "an acroschtick nonetsense fable" before !
RICKETTSY VERSE In the halls of fame, at God's right hand there sits a poet, Daniel his name, since time immemorial, dabbling in verse and worse, alliteration, nonsense, nonets; I do believe 'e well lives !
And now for something completely different, for the lady who loves us all :
EGYPTIAN ASPERSIONS CAST
Cleopatra, a goddess on earth loved all but one creature the same; elephants, Mark Anthony, or fleas, which made her jump ! Perhaps her judgement askew. Choice to take to bosom rash one : asp !

Asp per ration: mine bit the dust, thanks,
so new-fang’d things I’ll do without;
perhaps mine had bitten off
really too much to chew;

Well, it looks like no one is even reading in here, but I don't know where else to leave this message for everyone. I still haven't found a kind of Community Forum here where one can just say hello to everyone. I know there must be one, but this educationally challenged person has given up looking! Sorry. If a mod happens to stumble in here, perhaps you could pass on this message to everyone in the forum. K?
This is for y'all:

I've truly missed all of you by not being able to offer critique while I've been trying to catch up with paperwork at my job. My slow reading and limited time just have made it impossible.
Total knee replacement next Wednesday morning. Hope I'm not away too long.

Dear Daniel
Well, I'M reading you loud and clear ! This is not only clever, the absolute minimum I expect from you, but also quite exquisitely beautiful, because of its truth !
Love Alan
Re : Placement
Please, lightly a-'mend' him cuz Daniel - 'e what faced lions - means to conquer his knee ere it cramps his whole life's style. No, fact, that would help Daniel to make 'knee'-cessary ad-'just'-ments !

Nicely done! I must try these one of these moments! To answer your question, the CHAT ROOM is located in the "ATUM'S ANNEX" Category (fourth one down from the top of the board), inside the Mosaic Miscellany sub-category and then into the forum "The Basilica".
Go here: http://forums.mosaicmusings.net/cgi-bin....=SF;f=1
This is our bantering basilica. I will post your fine nonet over there now...

A Shimmering Trinket
We are all diamonds in the rough, seeking shimmering trinkets that can only be found when one searches the exact environs. Hidden treasures gleam in surges. A self worth has been found. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ How deep must one dig to discover hidden treasures within us all? Do you see the shimmering smile that is your ardor’s song, spoken of heart? Can you reach the hide~a~way snuggled deep?

Dear Cleo
I could be incredibly rude and say "Loved the shape, pity about the words", but I won't !
Lovely poem, if this is your first eighteenet (nonet x 2) it was worth waiting for, the sentiment perefectly expressed and so true.

Word-working
Work some words to fit a preset form, control conformance to a shape that still conveys a message. See poets here perform strange exercises designed to be challenges to strain brains.

Share the bounty with those you hold dear, gather in the kitchen with kin. Join in the merry laughter brought forth every year. Eat tasty turkey, a dessert too, but give thanks for food first.
