The elves work is done this year,
their evenings have become a bore, with thumbs twiddlin a'plenty, definite actions they need to explore. Hours of sitting in front of the fire telling tall tales of yore, all were very startled when Santa rushed out the door. All the elves looked quizzical, shoes scuffled 'cross the floor, no one knew what happened or what was now in store. An elf peeked thru the window, hoping to learn the score. Why didn't Santa say something? They usually had such close rapport. Whispering among themselves now for the big man in red they adore, "Do you think he might be sick? Santa come back, we implore!"  Worriedly checking the workshop, they suddenly hear a loud 'roar', Unable to abide just one more tale he's curled up in his chair with a snore! copyright Nov2004 Cathy Bollhoefer |

Thanks Liz! I had a lot of fun writing this! Christmas is my all-time favorited season so this contest wasn't a problem. Win or lose...I've had fun!
