The Traditional Turkey
Oh me, oh my, Christmas is near. The pantry's empty, ice box bare, the turkey's sitting out to thaw, ten pounds of spuds still in the drawer. I've search the house both up and down, there's not one morsel to be found. It's time I used a bit of skill to pickle something at my will. A turkey stuffed with attitude and passing fancy just might do. To celebrate this Christmas Day I'll cram my bird so all can say "this surely is a tasty treat-- a stuffed up bird that we can't eat! " I'll use my mother's recipe- of fashioned smiles and memories. A mound of faded photographs that's marinaded in our laughs, a stack of tales that grandma told; some stories new, some talk of old. A fib or two will spice things up and fill with thrills our coffee cup. A dash of dreams that might come true- a baby rattle for a crunch or two. I'll shove and push them in just right, within the cav'ty oh so tight. Perhaps some chunks of play doh squished just might create a delicious dish. These great ingredients will sure be talked about ten years or more.... so... What shall I stuff my turkey with? I'll stand and swear, I'll plead the fifth!
