Hi, my name is Kimi and i live in the middle of Montana USA. I love the out doors and in the summer i am very rarely inside. In the winter ( which is way to long here) i write. I started writing a few years ago. Prose Poetry and Free verse ( still learning the titles). I would very much like to learn to create poetry that is music when the words are spoken. ( any help there? LOL ) I enjoy writing very much, but am not very good at it. I look forward to receiving feed back and learning to excell. I am writing a novel, and am two years into it. I love to read, i always have a book in my hand. I am excited to get familiar with the forum and get comfortable with moving around. I have been reading quite a few poems and enjoy them very much. Although at the moment i do not feel comfortable with critiquing, i will be happy to leave positive feed back. I look forward to making friends and learning to improve my writing. Kimi

Hi Kimi, Welcome, I hope you settle down and make a home here at MM. For starting out in poetry you are in a good place. I see you Know my good friend Robin so that deserves an extra-special welcome! I saw your first post and it caught my eye immediately as I live in Africa and am right now spending the holidays in the Kalahari. I grew up in bush and many of my poems are about the animals and myth and legend of Africa so I was fascinated to see your post. Do you have a connection with Botswana or visited Africa? Hugz, Wally

Hi Kimi -
I'm delighted to see you've taken the plunge and joined the site. Like me, you are novice writer and I believe this is one of the best sites to improve our writing. Most of the members have been writing for years and have fine tuned their skills and pass their knowledge along in a warm and friendly manner. I'm sure you'll enjoy the experience. Note: Wally is an exceptional teacher!

Kim, Welcome to MM. Montana? is there really such a place? Just joking with you of course. Montana is one of the few states that I have not been in...Don't they call that big sky country??? or is that another state? Twice welcome if you are a friend of Robin, we have a place for free verse, and for rhyme with form...if you check out Karnak's it has some very fine examples of many different forms. I am a mainly free verse/free form writer. The people here are all like family. Lots of distance between us all but still a warm group. There are also challenges, places to gear you toward creative muse. If you need any help with the site or with the threads please don't hesitate to ask, I am here most every day, sooner or later. I hope you enjoy your stay here at MM.
Steve

Hello Kim and WELCOME once again to MM! I also enjoy nature and find that being outdoors inspires me in various ways to write and just enjoy what beauty exists out there. I have been toying with a fantasy novel idea for a few years myself, and have a few poems (Rion series) here that introduce some of the characters, which I find very helpful when the muse is AWOL from working on my outline. I'm certain you'll find our forum has many varied places to post as we have weekly and monthly challenges in addition to the critique sections. You'll have to let us all know what level of critique is comfortable for you as we are all of differing maturity levels (in writing and with critiquing . I'm opposite of Steve and enjoy the more formal styles of rhythm and meter. 2009 was a rough year for me so I wasn't very productive with the muse, but am looking forward to 2010 and all that it will bring, all good things! I've never been to Montana - I'm a forever Yankee it seems - who ventures mostly between Massachusetts and Maine. Welcome! ~Cleo (Lori)

Hi Thoth, Thank you so much for such a warm welcome. Robin is a very dear friend and helps me with my writing. I am excited to get to know my way around. I have never been to Africa, although i would love to go. My poem was inspired by a documentary i had watched on the Planet earth program. To include the Kalahari, i was so amazed how wildlife could survive there. Thank you for reading it. Kimi

Ohsteve, You are very right, it is called the big sky. Very few people but lots of open spaces. I very much appreciate your double welcome and will check out the areas you suggested. Thank you so much. Kimi

Cleo, I also love the outdoors, it is a great way to be inspired to write. I hope you complete your novel, what an accompolishment that would be. I am finding it taking longer then i thought lol. I will find your poetry and read about your characters, i never thought of getting to know them in that way. That is an awesome idea. I am sorry 2009 was not good to you, i hope 2010 blesses you tremendously. Thank you for your warm welcome. kimi

I find pretty much all my projects take longer than I ever think they will, ! I hope you like the poems (they're in Herme's Homilies) - the first is called "In Rion's Eye". I've already been blessed early on in 2010 and know the remainder will be (I feel it)! Whippee! Cheers, Lori
