I would like to nominate Lori Kanter's 2 magical poems;

QUOTE
In Rion's Eye, Part I

I see through gossamery clouds
a world of hatred's tryst,
where pixies poise to tame cruel beasts
in homelands they resist;

of voiceless thoughts and hushed unrest
upon strong backs they ride
of changelings, coasting on the wind
through places where they'll hide.

I see through gossamery clouds
a most unlikely pair,
through paradigms of unity
defrock an evil heir.

Together sprite and dragon vow
like times so long ago,
to bring civility and peace
to those they come to know.

I see through gossamery clouds
a world of moral mien…
and sit upon this star of mine
where never I’ll be seen.

It matters not that I'm alive
to see what came before --
as dawn awakes, I’ll take my leave
but never close my door.

I see through gossamery clouds
a tear in Rion’s Eye,
where flights of faith obscure my view --
I quietly glide by.

Author's notes:
This is part of a longer ballad/story about a fantasy world, and the actions of the primary characters. Changeling is a reference to a character of a dragon race that adopts the pixies/sprites desires to bring civility and peace to the world. Rion is the (imaginary) world they live in personified.

QUOTE
The Brellanine, Part II

I see through acts of Brellanine
in shades of purest teal
and eyes, the width of Rion’s reach,
an erudite ideal.

She’s greeted with utmost respect,
this tender pixie queen,
by those who understand her plan
for peace, she once had seen.

I see through acts of Brellanine
a sparkle based on trust
where glitter glows in multitude;
bewitching magic dust.

Taneia brightens ebon skies
her eloquence remains,
despite the ravenous unknown
enslaved by hatred’s chains.

I see through acts of Brellanine
a long forgotten race
rise up to take a valiant stand
with unmatched poise and grace.

It matters not how long it takes
to share her faith with all,
Taneia sees beyond today --
she’ll take up Rion’s call.

I see through acts of Brellanine
a world about to change,
as age reverts to paradigms
among the strong and strange.

***To be continued***

Footnotes:
Brellanine is a race of pixie-like beings, very small in size, but very powerful when they put to use their best asset, the glitter (magical dust). Taneia is the pixie queen who is mature beyond her years and strives to bring peace back to their known world. Her premonitions guide her actions. Rion is the (imaginary) world they live in personified.

Hi Lindi wave.gif

WOW! hsdance.gif I'm both honored and thrilled to read this nomination. Thank you very much! cheer.gif fairy.gif cloud9.gif

I'm not 100% certain that this ballad would fare well in the IBPC, since it's only a small part of a longer story to tell? Do you think it would stand well enough on its own without having Part I associated with it as well as the future parts I've still to post?

Looking forward to further commenet.

Thanks again!

Hi,

I'd liketo nominate Larry's poignant poem, Colors of Hate a very telling and colorful read on war, a must read IMHO!

Good luck Larry!
~Lori sun.gif

QUOTE
Colors of Hate

Winds ride
long empty schoolyard swings,
shake rusty snow on un-scuffed sand.
Orange clouds still glow from strange mushrooms
as bloated worms feed; garish green.
Another sunset, purple smears to blood red;
unseen! Sky bruises' glow soon fades to night.
Gray stones now resting, time-worn smooth,
once etched to mark a species...gone!
White silence, deafening. Unheard
knell's echo's stilled
by Time's sure hand.
Black comes at last,
on unshod hooves.
The Four in One
reap war's foul crop.

Hi all,

I'm thinking it may be best to only submit Part I as I believe it stands alone and could be inferred as a metaphor to the political presidential race at present. Of course, I think the same way for Part II and that some could infer Taneia as Hilary (YIKES, personally I shudder at that thought) but would like to hear your thoughts.

Thank you very much!

Hello,

I'd like to nominate Linda's (Xanadu) poem, Waiting for Andromeda for its originality, clever word choices and allteration throughout.

Good luck!
~Cleo thumbsup.gif

QUOTE
Waiting for Andromeda by Xanadu

How do I fathom these atoms
that have aligned to make a me
and not this toast upon my plate?

Cosmic specks, not a breath
between them, become content and color,
to compose a singularity between
my hand and the handle of a cup.

In this bowl of microcosmic soup,
I watch my body rearrange,
as if pressed for time,
anxious to disconnect
and join the incandescence
amid inconsequential worlds.

My dust desires to dance
in the dominions of Andromeda.
