The Wait

Arise and go where streams run clear
where cabins grey and time is dear
for there you’ll see me standing near
in glades made green by soliders' tears.

In veils of black I stay beyond
the wattles crushed in battles gone
and here I’ll hold and shall go on
and wait for you, my son, my Sean.

Luce

live, arise, stand, go, shall, glade, veils, wattles, cabin, grey

Hi Luce,

While my answer was short and flippant, trying to be cute in a limited amount of time I had to give the challenge due to other things going on in my life, you've created a lovely yet poignant ode to the millions of mothers who have lost loved ones to the unending wars that have been waged across the centuries.

It is a thing of beauty. Thank you for taking the time with the given words. You should be proud of your effort.

Larry

When power leads man toward arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the areas of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of his existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

Thanks Larry,

Now let's see if it can survive the fixed form forum next. Gotta wait for a few days and let the one I have there now "Connections" go down the line a bit more.

I know what you mean about having to pay attention to life. For me, I'm constantly doing a "duty dance" and can easily get lost in all sorts of drama. Oddly enough, poetry keeps me rooted and centered amidst the chaos.
