Fust, take a han'ful of pre-digested nouns,
twist them into unusual shapes an' plant them firmly on th' page.
Foller this hyar wif sin'-song wo'ds thet juntly caress
etch curve an' vowel an' brin' them all t'life.

Add t'this a tingi of colo',
a scrap of sentimentality
o' a hidden meanin' an' stir them until fine mixed,
cuss it all t' tarnation.

Served hot o' cold,
it will last fo'evah if fine done.

This is translated:

Word Soup...

First, take a handful of pre-digested
nouns, twist them into unusual shapes
and plant them firmly on the page.

Follow this with sing-song words that
gently caress each curve and vowel
and bring them all to life.

Add to this a tinge of color, a scrap of
sentimentality or a hidden meaning
and stir them until well mixed.

Served hot or cold, it will last forever
if well done.
