Boston Mystery
Big new flash: a professor found crows by the highway from Boston… it goes that he called M.I.T. to inspect the dead birds for disease like bird-flu to put his mind at ease. Ornithologist’s see some strange things but they’d never seen this; no disease, something must be amiss for they found some paint chips on the beaks and the claws of each bird. Their forensics lab thought it absurd that results showed big dips in percentages where the paint’s used. Nearly all of the samples perused were for big rigs or truck and about two percent came from cars. The scientific community’s stars were all stumped, out of luck. But an old country boy they had hired to clean labs and mop up was inspired and thought he’d intercede. He reminded them all, crows are smart for they set sentinels from the start before landing to feed. So when danger approached they would crow with “caw-caw” to let all the flock know to fly up or get struck and although crows are wise, none have learned to say words; languages they have spurned; they can’t warn with “truck-truck”!

Hey Richard,
Thanks for dropping by for a read. I know it was a long way to the punch-line but this is a short one in comparison to my next one "Halo Statue". It is a bit more convoluted than this one and just like this one, a real groaner! Glad you enjoyed.
Larry

Hi Daniel,
Glad you and Richard liked it. I'll post another when I get out of Karnak.

Great one, Larry! So glad I dropped in tonight. It's clever and the punch line is just right.
Hope you get out of Karnak more often.
Best, Syl

Hi Syl,
Glad you liked my little joke. There is an even longer and more convoluted one titled "Halo Statue" over in Plato's Pearls.
I'm starting to rhyme jokes so you need to put in some more challenges. The muse gets confused if it doesn't have something to goad it every once in a while.
Larry

Hey, Larry! I would love to post more challenges, but as you see I'm the only moderator around, so I honestly don't have time. I have one in mind, bookmarked and all, but maybe tomorrow...dunno.
Anybody can PM me with ideas, you know that. Just PM a list of titles, phrases or maybe another image. I'll post the challenge and even give you credit for your participation.
Once I offered a challenge with a video, a lovely song, but nobody took up on it. So I removed it.
Congrats again for this poem with a joke, we're needing some humor right now!
Syl
