Puma Wind
The wind is a howling puma. I hear it breathe in raining darkness. It battles shores of the South Atlantic until armlets belch black liquid, like furious sea-serpents captives of an untamed force. The puma’s loping form, crouching fast over scarred beaches, takes on the thunderous ocean, slashes low skies with fiery streaks.
I listen to Puma Wind call me, harken to his alluring pauses, occasional mellow tones. Away from you, yes, I shall ride Puma Wind, far from the meaningless traffic of this world. As yellow as spume on Austral swells, eyes glowing in phosphorescent waters, this mythical creature mounts the spine of waves when seas bellow in from the blackness.
After this last night with you, pressed close to your naked skin, the claws of Puma will carry me away, sharp and cold as icicles. Tomorrow, you’ll still savour the salt on our hungry bodies, as we made love by the fireside, sheltered from errant winds combing the distant Atlantic.

Hey there Lady!
Wow, two awards! :hsdance: Both very well deserved. :sun:
I enjoyed this one very much! The idea of the wind being like a Puma is so intreguing to me. Your choice words always inspire me and leave me with an awesome appreciation of you talent. They seem to flow effortlessly across the page, weaving vivid pictures, and with this one even sound and smell! Those can be very hard to project and you did it masterfully :sings:
Well done Slyvia, and Congratulations!
Love ya, Chris :wizard:

Hi Cleo !
Thank you for your congrats, Cleo ! I'm surprised and delighted with the results. I also wish to congratulate Chris, Cyn and Cathy for their wonderful contributions and prizes, as well as everybody else who entered Odin's contest.
It must have been difficult to judge, because now that I've read all the pieces I think everyone deserves recognition. I've just been lucky... :cloud9:
Hugs, Sylvia :butterfly:

Hi there Lady Morgan Le Fay !! :sun:
I don't know what to say, Chris, about your encouraging words, except a great big THANK YOU !!!
I'm so very glad you were intrigued with the "puma" comparison to the wind. I honestly don't know why it occurred to me, it was last year and my memory doesn't go back that far....
Neither was I conscious of the "sound and smell" projections. That's why it's great to get feedback from readers, it's so very helpful and I also hope to be of assistance to others, back in the poetry forums, where we have such interesting exchanges of ideas and opinions.
Thanks again, m'lady ! Hugs, Sylvia :butterfly:

Hi Cleo ! :sun:
I'm back again, because I only just saw "Critical Chieftain" under my name... How long has that been there and what does it imply??!! :upside:
I'm afraid I only just noticed it. I don't think I do half enough crits (lack of time) to merit any such title, but perhaps it's related to something else?
Anyway, changes are nice, I'll go with it, Cleo !
Hugs, Sylvia :butterfly:
