too bad Hell, or Hades ain't alive
fear makes folks so much harder to strive
so they work like skink
till they're on the brink
of being able to die, or to thrive

“If you’re able to thrive, you won’t die!”
Everyone knows this statement’s a lie.
Even if you’re a cat,
you have nine and that’s that
then you will be rewarded or fry.

you will then be rewarded, or fry
no use, pretending you won't die
be you ever so bad
or not, just by a tad
only question to ask is just, why ?

If you're constantly questioning 'why?'
you will not be the company guy
'cause they want you to do
what you're told, not to screw
with their picture of pie in the sky.

why a picture of pie in the sky ?
I'd prefer one of sky in the pie
more wholesome by far
could be sold in a jar
we'd all go there in the by and by

Hi Daniel
yeah, i can relate. Bose downsized the Americas Sales Team last week and my department was eliminated. In all, 145 were laid off in that team, myself included. 28 years I had there. It had changed though. I will log in and post some challenges in a bit. I am in a shocking funk. Your limerick hits home.

Buy and bye; all of us have been there
when the company said that they care
but in truth, they require
bottom lines to get higher.
Profit margins go up, so they pare.

Lori,
Sorry to hear that a famous maker of speakers failed to communicate their true intentions.
Maybe they'll offer you a senior VP marketing position in another division.

Larry

Profit margins must go high, higher
so parsimonious build up the fire
they cut all the staff
by way more than half
and imolate themselves on a pyre

So sorry to hear the tough news, Lori. I was the victim of my own critique of my agency two years ago, when I was suspended for untrue claims against me. They had gradually changed our excellent program into a nearly meaningless pseudo-intervention for families trying do deal with a mentally ill family member. Most meaningful interventions were eliminated in favor of pabulum. My 16-year investment was simply thrown away, and I was unceremoniously eliminated.

Thanks Alan, Larry and Daniel.

Yeah i did NOT see that coming at all. In one swift meeting, 145 laid Off. I am still bewildered and other things but it will be better wherever I end up.

I'll be along tomorrow to post. Got sidetracked today.

Hugs
Lori

It is difficult; counting on friends
sometimes leads to unfortunate ends.
When your purposes clash
even when there's no bash
things can happen; and there are no mends.

things can happen that need no amends
like failing to steer round those sharp bends
while driving a car
while hitched to a star
life cannot take it, and so it just ends

If your life is found burning both ends
of a candle, you'll find it distends
or may melt in a blob
so that you'll have to daub
it up while it's hot... it depends.

it's up while it's hot, it depends
on just how "la grand affaire" ends
is it with whimper
perhaps a simper
or action, and remain best of friends ?

Taking action with best friend's remains
you cremate him; a small jar contains
fine grey ashes you keep
in the back of your Jeep
until they can be spread on the plains.

I see you own a spread on the plains
earned by interring human remains
so a grave is dug
then you pull the plug
and consign those remains to the saints

Those remains of the saints you've consigned
are quite often mere fragments they find;
kept hermetically sealed
but this fact is revealed,
veneration is all in the mind.

germination's a thought in your mind
taking root 'til it grows, is refined
and comes out of your lips...
but the clutch somehow slips
and the words spew forth poorly defined.

Pour a forth and define the words spewed
by a man with a fifth who is stewed
and if any make sense
it's mere coincidence;
otherwise, I would say we're all screwed.
