A place where coral granules scuttle through my convivial toes as I meander along the silken seaside in solitude…
where cloudless sky emanates vibrant Cerulean sparkled with diamond rays gently emitting warm gold drenched sun drops…
where liquid turquoise swirls and ripples, then rolls up to kiss majestic weathered rocks peaking foamy sea splashes a fountain of white…
a place where I journey to swim free, an exclusive harbor within my mind’s eye for consumption, proscribed to all, but me. ©Linda Balboni 2004

Hi Lindi. There's always something calming and serene about your poetry - I think perhaps its in your soft (but contagious) rhythms? A place where coral granules scuttle through my convivial toes as I meander along the silken seaside in solitude… I am so fond of this opening! You introduce the sparkling of orange in the sand and the silky aspect. I want to walk along too! I love the feel of sand through my toes. where cloudless sky emanates vibrant Cerulean sparkled with diamond rays gently emitting warm gold drenched sun drops… WOW! Each line builds upon the previous where again, color is wonderfully sprinkled in my mind. I can picture the cystral blue sky - a sparkling jewel it is! where liquid turquoise swirls and ripples, then rolls up to kiss majestic weathered rocks peaking foamy sea splashes a fountain of white… I must admit - this entire stanza is so captivating - liquid turquoise, fountains of white... a place where I journey to swim free, an exclusive harbor within my mind’s eye for consumption, proscribed to all, but me. I will journey there if you go with me! Let's take a dip Lindi!
Lovely poem! ~Cleo

Lovely poem! ~Cleo Hello Lori~ Thank you so much for your colorful and detailed comments about this poem! You are so creative in your critique and I love reading your thoughtful response! Yes, I would love to take a "dip" with you! Shall we stick to the Atlantic or perhaps venture to the Pacific Ocean?????? (or, although not as crystal clean, instead of the ocean the river Nile??) See you soon! Lindi

It makes me thing of Masefield's "I must go down to the seas again..." of which I still have a few lines memorized. Magnificent.

Merlin Hello Merlin, Thank you so much for reading and commenting on my poem so generously. I am complimented to be even remotely compared to Masefield. I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky, And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her byHope you are having a great summer! Lindi

Dear Lindi, I've read this several times to try to understand the magic in it. Can it be that the magic is that this blissful place doesn't exist in reality but instead, it's all in your mind and accordingly all yours! When we ask to share it with you we subconsciously know we're playing "let's pretend" as we did as a child and that is the magic. A true work of art, and without the adornments of rhyme and beat I'm so used to. Cheers and cheers, Ron jgd

What you described is exactly what is behind my intention! A place where my imagination takes me, my perfect place. (therefore, some details a bit overmodified) I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment with such a detailed response! May you find that "perfect" place too! Lindi

Hey, Lindi! I wanna vacation there! Beautiful thoughts and feelings. I was right inside the subject's steps. I'm looking forward to a week in Ocean City, NJ in the middle of September, when all the shoobies will be gone and the beach really will be almost as you describe it for us. It's my favorite thing of all to do! Thank you for the foretaste! deLightingly, Daniel

Dear Lindi, I believe reading poetry is the best way to learn about poetry. In reading this one I marvel at foamy white kisses on magestic weathered rocks. The mental picture is almost unique, yet on second thought it's a picture we've likly seen many times. Such is the magic in poetry! Cheers, Ron
