Hello Lori.
There are times when I'm quite glad I'm a Brit. err.. I mean Egyptian. We suffer the occasional insect bite or run the risk of being struck by lightning when the weather gets too summery, but poison ivy ! Snakes ! Killer Bees.
As Dorothy says; There's no place like home

QUOTE (Athena @ Sep. 27 2003, 03:45) Hi Lori,
Well done, my friend, well done! I chortled and snickered before I giggled and did an out-and-out laugh! What a delight. Love your talents, Lady!
Thanks for sharing ... always looking forward to the next Lori-write I come upon.
Blessings, Dolly Tee hee!
This was actually a challegne at PK I did over there! Not too many takers, but BOY - the ones that did were quite funny!
Remember those days (this was mostly true) although names were changed to protect the innocent!
Thanks and HUGS! ~Cleo :pharoah:

Camp Fear
Dear mom, dad and brother Fitz, I thought I’d let you know I’m here; surviving in this place of Pits, this summer camp we call “Camp Fear”.
Day one was filled with mystery making friends from other places. We learned about our history and its cultures, facts and faces.
Then chow time came and so we ran toward the mess hall, down the trail. Can you believe I tripped on Spam, and broke my wrist, boy, did I wail!
That night we had a campfire and steamed some lobster, clams and corn. I got scorched, swore like a lyre then got confined to my own dorm!
Day two, you see, was really cool! We played some games and tried croquet; The sack race, me and Tommy ruled, until we fell on bee’s cache.
Don’t worry mom, they fixed us up! The stings don’t hurt! The swelling’s down! They gave us something in a cup like Gatorade so we don’t frown!
We got to have our own picnic with barbecued hot dogs and beans. Nurse Nancy sure did fix us quick so we could join the fishing scene.
We got to have our own canoe and watched some birds dive bomb our bait. That sunscreen didn’t ‘stick like glue’; mosquitoes? I’m a red hot plate!
We laid around on Nancy’s cots, our safeguard to ‘scenic study’. That rope swing hit my eye and got me spinning like old Miss Fuddy!
Last night we took a blindfold trip led by our counselor, Miss Dread. The trail beneath my feet had dipped beneath the sense of calm I’d tread.
I sprained my ankle really bad, but kept on going ‘til the end. You’d be so proud of me, right dad? My foot is slowly on the mend.
Today, the pancake brunch I’ll make with Ann, my girl, and crutch in hand. She’s so darn cute, I feel no ache when at her side, I’m her big fan!
Well, I must go and meet Nancy, she says my wounds are healing slow. I’ll see you when you come for me, I think you’ll find that I have grown.
Love, Pete P.S. When are you coming? I’m homesick!
