The Autumn Orchard In the evening, the autumn orchard beckons me to walk among the trees, to look through gnarled branches, and become entranced under a fiery moon that rides high in the clear night sky. Wind sighs through the leaves chanting songs of "All Saints Eve", scented by the soft breath of apples, weaving memories of loved ones long passed away. I see them there in the mists that rise from the earth. The cider-laden air speaks of harvests past. I drink a cup and become intoxicated by the images my mind inspires. Like Eve, I am tempted to pick the fruit. It's skin stained a rosy red with kisses from the sun. Their fragrant flesh, smooth as silk, touched against my lips; I long to share the taste with them... The full warm harvest of memories that reside within the autumn orchard.

Hi Sylvia,
Thank you so much for your congratulations and wonderful, warm comments on Autumn Orchard. So glad you enjoyed it! :)
I was really excited and honored to see it placed! Wasn't expecting it all, but hope does spring eternal.
It's one of the first poems that I ever posted for critique. I've tweaked and tweaked on it over the years. I entered this as an afterthought, after "The Sojourner". I'm very glad I did. LOL!
Thanks again! {{hugs}}
Love and stuff, Chris :)
