Hi, I'm Shel - a.k.a. Quietwaters. I used to write. In my heart I still write. But in my everyday world, signing my name to receipts or addressing envelopes seems to be the extent of the writing process for me these days. It's been far too long. There are words buzzing around in my head, waiting for me to breathe them into an outside life, seperate from me yet somehow determined to be a reflection of me, their equally determined captor.

I am scared. Perhaps I cannot write as I once did.

I feel like a willow tree standing in the shadow of a mighty oak. I am a tree, but am I worthy tree? Only time will tell. Write. Share. Accept. Learn. Grow. One day the mighty oak and I may shake hands and stand together in singular grandeur, he with his strength and I with my shimmery beauty. Both will enhance the landscape. Both will absorb the sunlight. Both will grow. It's time and I am ready....I think....for me to write again.

Hi Shel;

I know how you feel. I always wanted to write. I put it off as long as I could. A couple years ago it couldn't wait anymore. I wondered if I could complete a short story, poem or even a complete thought on paper. I wondered if anyone would read. I wondered if anyone would be able to understand anything I tried to say (I'm very self conscious about my lack of education). It finally came down to... write a little for me, share a little of what I write, let fate decide.

Some folks seem to sincerely enjoy some of the things I share *smile* some don't. But I tell ya what... I enjoy doing it.

Soooooo.... get busy. I doubt you'll post anything illegal first time on the board here, so what do you have to lose?

Please accept my belated welcome to MM. I have been away a long time and quite rusty in my own writing, thus can relate to your situation. Though as well worded as your introduction was I doubt that you have much to worry about.

Of all the writing sites I've been on this one has the best critiquing without any meaness that I've yet come across.
