Ho! Ho! Ho!

A TOTALLY USELESS MINDGAME...

As I said to Rudolph yesterday. (He was not amused - he has a cold. You should see him; horrid red nose). Anyway....

Odd one out please (any reason acceptable but I do have a specific one in mind)... Do, please, state the reason for your analysis.

Aging / Frump / Steam / Spied / Valet

Post the answer in this thread / tile... as soon as I see it I'll throw-up another to waste more time.

Merry Easter everyone! (One tries to be different).

Toodle Pip!

James.

Biut some of us are on to him .....

Hi! Cleo, Alan, Larry et al...

Err, sorry, I don't see the problem - I simply passed this on as it was passed to me.

To quote myself:

Odd one out please (any reason acceptable but I do have a specific one in mind)... Do, please, state the reason for your analysis.

Aging / Frump / Steam / Spied / Valet

i.e. which of those words is the odd one out? - and why? Any clearer? I do have a particular reason in mind, but any other valid reason is acceptable (that gives more lee-way than I was given).

Is it "Aging"? Is it "Frump"? Is it "Steam"? Is it "Spied"? Is it "Valet"?

err... I would try to find Welsh and Sanskrit translations but they, almost certainly, wouldn't work!

Sorry for any sarcasm... I really honestly have no idea what the confusion is here - do, please, put me out of my misery (and everyone else's) and tell me what I did wrong to cause confusion? (I know, I did everything right to cause confusion!)

James.

PS Hurry now - I have zillions of these! (groan!)

Steam is the odd one out.

Being a gas, it is invisible.

The others can been seen. I think!!  Jester.gif  dunce.gif

Hi Gerry,

Thanks for taking part. Indeed, sumwun had to have a go!

I'd love to give you this but, usually, steam can be seen (being a vapour). Moreover, "spied" can't be seen either I'm afraid (though, a spy can!) Nor, I think can aging - though, the aging process might, I suppose.

A great attempt but I fear we have to continue looking - fancy another go yourself?

Cheers, James!

James,
If you watch a boiling kettle the first inch from the spout
is invisible- this is steam. It then changes into vapour which
is visible. Steam becomes visible when it is cooled into vapour.
It is then of course gas vapour or water vapour.

As you said you can certainly see the aging process.
Regards to spied-- one can see the one who spies, one can see
the object being spied, so---- oh well whats the point--

       it's nearly christmas  xmas.gif  Jester.gif  Speechless.gif  xmas.gif

ROFL, Prof Gerry!

I like someone who argues... That way myself.

Good arguments, too!

Here's the second clue: (I didn't flag the first. which was very easily missed)...

Merry Christmas - Bottoms Up!

James.

I think it's Valet....

Aging / Frump / Steam / Spied / Valet

course - it could be "AGING" since it is the first ODD one out....

Jester.gif

The againg frump went to the valet and spied on his cheating gal. He then blew off some steam and now all is an aging frump...

Hi Cleo,

Good to see you here again.

Aging is the first odd one in, rather than out methinks... with steam (3rd) being the second odd one in and valet (5th) being the final odd one in. Is that what you meant?

Interesting passage too.

Now... Another clue: You misspelt "aging" in your passage (first time). If I'd done, in the question, precisely what you did in your passage, I would have nullified the whole quiz.

Cheers! James.

Roll Up! Roll Up! Roll Up!

Unless we have some more "goes" at this soon I shall be forced to reveal the truth. So have a Crimble drink, sit down and have a go... which of the words is the odd one out - and why?

Answer to be revealed VERY soon...

James.

Many, many congratulations to Cleo!

"Frump" it shall be! (I hadn't even noticed that).

The only five-letter word with one vowel - she is perfectly right. And her answer is as good as mine.

Cleo Wins!

You want to know my answer? Oh! Sorry... I was busy drinking to Cleo's success, can't drink to mine... My answer was...

"Spied"

So why is *spied* the odd one out then? :p

And every reply I gave (I think) has a reference to drinking! I even pointed-out that I couldn't drink to my answer... (Spied)...

 aGINg / fRUMp / sTEAm / sPIEd / vALEt

Even one for the tea-totaller.

But your answer, Cleo, was as good!

Cheers! James.
