Dear Lori

Indeed I did ! I used to have some weird mental calculations about how I could/could not safely step well away from the bed to get to the wall cupboard to fetch something, grab it, and take a flying leap back into the bed.

My comment on your poem was, I assumed it was written here-and-now, right after all the noise you had at work, hence my advice !

LOL

Love
Alan

Shadows of Mind’s Eye

Darkness descends
awakening shadows
of mind's eye.

Camouflaged,
phantom peripheries
of perception
lurk behind armies
of hung clothing.

I scream for my
secret shield of
fortification;
“Night light!”

Shadows deploy
reinforcements
organizing attack.

Light exaggerates
my desire to seize
control.

Another sleepless
night dawns stalemate.
Or does it?

Under my bed,
apparitions reposition
their battalions.

Dear Lori,

Well, here is a contrary bit of advice :

DO give up the day job ! That is, if this is written "from life" !

Don't have time now for a full crit, I'll be back.

Love
Alan

Ahhhh ok Alan..
No, if I were to write something about work - it wouldn't be about shadows - it'd be about a jagged knife piercing my back - OUCH! laugh.gif
