grinch.gif   Grinch Wannabe   grinch.gif

A touch of mischief in bright eyes,
a naughty twist besmirches smile;
with copycatting on his mind,
he looks the picture of true guile.

His makeup would turn Snow White green,
but then, he has to do this right.
Excitement eager in his eyes,
he's picked flourescent hues for night.

He rigs himself a deer and sleigh,
I'll turn their songs to childish cries.
The town of Whoville down below
is in for quite a sad surprise.

I'll steal their trees and candles too,
their candy canes and Christmas star,
the name-stitched stockings from their hearth;
those Whozits won't know who they are.

When swooping down the mountainside
his plans go suddenly awry,
he's dumped into a huge snowdrift;
with bruised intent and mischief eyes.

Hi Cathy !  :sun:

This is a very funny poem, I love it !! Great rhyming, too.

I don't know who Grinch Wannabe is, did you invent him or is he a character from a book? Do tell, I'm an ignoramus...  :blush21:   I can only think of Scrooge at this moment.... Jester.gif

Hugs,
Sylvia  :dove:

Hi Sylvia,

The Grinch comes from Dr Suess: How The Grinch Stole Christmas.
The 'Wannabe' is 'want to be' shortened.  lol

I'm glad you enjoyed it!

OH that naughty Grinch!  WIll he ever learn?  Setting such a bad example that some little imp would emulate him!  LOL!  Well, I adore the original Grinch (we call Hubster Grinch - and, I must admit, I've been accused of being Cindy Lu Who on more than one occassion! LOL!) but that Jim Carey version - ICK!  I was SO disappointed!  Ah well, I guess that's the plight of wannabees.  They never really can obtain the status of the original! LOL!    I"m just glad he got is just desserts!  Tee-hee! Great job, Cathy!  You show 'em!

Big Hugs,
B.

Hi Nefertiti!

I never cared much for Jim Carey movies anyway.  :Oo:
I prefer the cartoon version any day!  lol

I'm glad you enjoyed this version anyway!

Have to agree with you there, Cathy! LOL!  He never did much for me, either.

Hoping you have a grinchless holiday!

Dear All,
I hold Dr. Suess in very high regard. You've done him proud.
Great irony in "true guile", fluorescent hues for night!
Cheers,    ron   jgd
