Hello and welcome to Pandora's December Challenge! detective.gif We're bringing back an oldie for giggles! turkey.gif

Pandora's box has been opened and Chaos is running amok! Can you capture her Muse in time before the Mosaic is toppled? rock.gif

The Topic:
Adoration of the Magi: Three Wise Kings ~ It's a tradition in South America, including Pyche's (Sylvia's) own country Argentina, for children to lay out a pair of shoes ready for Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar to leave them gifts as they pass by on their way to visit Baby Jesus, following the Star of Bethlehem and carrying myrrh, frankincense and gold for the Holy Family. This happens on January 6th. It's really called Epiphany, which means "manifestation of Christ to the Magi", of course, but children call it "The Day of the Three Wise Kings" ("Día de los Tres Reyes Magos").

Instead of asking Santa Claus for gifts, they ask the Wise Men, who come by on well-loaded camels. If one's lucky, one can spy them through the windows, riding along the crest of a hill and pointing at the Guiding Star (never mind if you live in a city, it's all the same...).
I remember as children we used to put out the LARGEST shoes possible, hoping for important presents, but our parents would tell us that the Three Magi had a very important mission to complete, and that we shouldn't delay them in their travels with difficult requests.... One could also decide to ask for a gift from one's favourite Magi, leaving a note in the shoe for him.

The Magi were considered "almost Kings" in the Middle Ages, and were venerated as saints as well, thence the "Adoration of the Magi" by famous artists. The term actually means sages, and sages were likened to kings because they were close to them and gave them advice. The relics of the Three Magi are enshrined in Cologne Cathedral, in Germany. They were considered the first Persians (priestly caste in ancient Persia) to believe in Christ. And of course they tricked Herod by taking a different route home...!

Some examples or possibilities might be:
Bills
Memories
Love Letters
Old Poetry

You get the idea...  sun.gif
