Summer Does Not Please Me
(just something with which to kill my 114 degree F Summer Doldrums)

Fierce Summer came with rapid strides,
Soon after May bade us adieu.
My always perky pace slowed down
And now I'm feeling hot and blue.

I'm looking for the coolest spot--
That's bound to be about my house;
The only one immune to this--
Appears to be my lovely spouse--

But I am bored--so bored and sick
Of this infernal summer’s heat,
And now with fondness I recall
Past winter’s chill and snow and sleet.

I praise man's ingenuity
That wrought technology . . . the thing
We call “com-pu-ter,” where I sit,
And then--my air-con-di tion-ing.

Hey Ali,

I enjoyed your "rant" about the heat. (at least it's a dry heat! LOL)

How soon we forget all the bad things said a few months back about freezing one's posterior off!

Enjoyed a lot because our 90+ temps and 80% humidity makes me want to get out of the sauna.

When power leads man toward arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the areas of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of his existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
