One Jar of Oil
The Festival of Lights ascends with one bright flame as Judah routs the tyrant’s men and two, those battles of that eldest son. A third relit eternal fire within the temple in Jerusalem, defiled… and let rededication’s path begin. Those celebrating now, on whom God smiled, chose death before idolatry and sin. ·······  ·······When power leads man toward arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the areas of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of his existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
