Hi Alan,
You may be baffled because of my vocabulary. Now I realize it might be quite Americanized. Over here, "dinner" is the biggest meal of the day. Also, we say "um" when food looks and smells good. If I'd said that maybe a good title for this poem might be "Tea Time," would you have still been baffled? If you understand it now, good. If not, I don't know what to say. I hope this clarifies it!
