Heya. Yea, it's an annoying bug, but you know how it goes, fix one make 3 more...
If you were interested in hard drive protection alone you could always set up a RAID 0 mirror. It won't give you more space or anything, but if one drive dies the other one has a perfect copy of the data so nothing's lost. Nope, you can't Y a SATA cable. Intersting you only have 6 drive sockets on the motherboard, usually they come in sets of 4, two each, one set of standard conectors, one multi-function set that can either be a RAID controller or a standard connector.
The forum is running on a 16MB cable modem connecton. Actually, I'm pretty sure that even the slowest cable connections nowadays are faster than T1 (they only run at 1.5MB). If you have FiOS coming into the area, that would be a cool upgrade. Just like cable they come in a variety of speeds, depending on how much you want to pay.
Take care.
