Listen Slower

In the South where the vowels are round
And gentility’s worth we expound
You’ll hear Mom ‘n ‘em say,
“Y’all come back, straight away!”
Northern ears don’t hear words, just a sound!

Mayo, you are probably correct in your assessment of why "your man" smiles. I just had to write this limerick for you:

Results

Once a sweet Belle with southern accent
Curled men’s hair when she wanted to vent.
With results from her ire,
Lips and voice did conspire.
Her man’s smile was the only extent

Mark, my intent was to poke fun at the way we talk down her, so I thought of a number of dimeter combinations for that first limerick but thought I'd just post one of them to see if anyone had some other suggestions. Here are a couple more for you to peruse

That's between what occurred
Northern ears don’t hear meaning, just sound

or

And gentility’s worth we expound
“grits ’n aigs” is a meal
and “m’on baak” an appeal
