Reply 1 - there may be a second if I can get revenge!
Shotgun makes a field report, blasting air, nothing caught, save Monroe’s skirt; lifted high like a parachute from the sky.
Dress and wig - all floats down, body: a straw-stuffed clown. Truth’s out - ‘tis plain to see he’s Mon-Scare-Crow... anywhere to pee?

To whom it may concern,
QUOTE In case any prospective meeting attendees of a sensitive disposition are reading this thread, perhaps we had better assure them that in person we are all polite, decorous (and, indeed, decorative) and never resort to innuendo-laden banter or ribaldry.
Actually, seriously, we are all quite okay ...
With the possible exceptions of Fran, Nina, James, Alan and Grace. (Esther is a nice, quiet, well-behaved girl ~ on first acquaintance. :detective: )

RIPOSTE
Shooter make a field report, blasting air, olfactor'ly fraught; save (President) Monroe's nose with a plastic clothes peg, closed
Dressed, bewigged, stuffed shirted too bodily odours, smell of ... organics puffed out, 'tis plain to smell he's Pres. Monroe, en suite on shell ....

Real school boy humour, innit ... and none of us in the first flush of youth any more, deary me.
And I've seen Esther at 3 o'clock in the morning, partying ... if only I could remember what happened.
Being serious (it won't last) I've added the date to the tile titles - or it'll be lost in the depths of page 5 somewhere.

Thanks Fran
Now we have the date sorted out we need to decide on location. The two options are somewhere close to Reading (James' old stomping ground so he knows the best pubs around) or Oxford.
My personal preference is Reading but what do the rest of you think.

Hi,
Reading has some fair pubs near - Oxford probably better - but Reading adequate, certainly.
My pref is Reading as it is closer but I'll go with the flow.
The BIG advantage of Reading is it's on the M4.
Both locations are badly cluttered with traffic. But at least we're not hitting the rush hour. (And since the pubs I have in mind - if suitable to others - are nearby, most people will be able to avoid the cluttered towns. We may even be able to sort out a better railway station than downtown for those who need it.

Dear Nina and Jox,
I would prefer to avoid both Oxford and Reading, and choose somewhere in between that has fair pubs and a railway sation for Fran nina and others.
Towns seem like an altogether bad idea !
love Alan

Hi Alan,
I was assuming we would avoid the urban town. I thought we were talking about pubs in the Reading or Oxford areas. As regards pubs in the twon - there are some great City Centre pubs in Oxford but I would go nowhere near Reading town centre pubs. We need to be near one or the other of those towns to facilitate rail travel but people who travel to the stations need to be collected and taken out of town. Providing I can make the day (seems highly likely) I have offered to collect Fran and Nina because Reading (especially) is easy for me - Oxford ok too. But no, not to lunch within the towns. I would recommend no pubs in Reading anyway.
(As a personal point, I really only use country pubs - I'm an urban-o-phobic)
Cheers, J.

Nina,
I know a couple of railway stations in / around Reading but when we've decided on the location - Reading / Oxford, people can look at where they will dock. But local stations almost certainly mean going into a main-line station and catching a connection out again - may be quicker to just have someone pop in to collect people - depends - we'll investigate.

Hi Alan, James
Knowing James is an urban-o-phobic (the complete opposite to me), I was also assuming that we would be heading for a pub in the middle of nowhere, but near enough to be accessible for rail pick-up, so I think we are all in agreement there.
